Season Greetings to One & All...
A quick question regarding the Bridgestone Tires commercial. Which version of 777 is that being shown? From the touchdown point-of-view, it's a -200. But after the captain finishes his preference for the aircraft's tire brand, the next shot shows what looks like a -300 on the roll-out. Does anyone here, besides me, think that they used both fuselage versions of the 777?

I'm pretty sure if you read the fine print when they're hyping up how rad the tyre is, it says specifications are for the 777-300.

I was more focused on the discrepancy of an American flight crew in what look like AA uniforms flying a JAL 777.
I mean, I know they code share and all, but that's a little much.

That was the first thing I noticed seeing that commercial on TV, I can't believe Bridgestone could let something like that make it into a commercial aired on national TV. I guess its one of those things only us a.netters could pick out.
The mother of the last KC-135 pilot has yet to be born.

Well, lots of ex-pats are flying JAL aircraft, just not the 777

I can see the use of the JAL 777 since Bridgestone is a Japanese company and does supply JAL with most of their aircraft tires. Of all the wheel assemblies I have seen come in for JAL, only one wasn't a Bridgestone tire. I also can understand the use of an American pilot since it is a commercial for the U.S. market.

Many crews for JO are not Japanese. The JL fleet is interchanged on JO quite often so it is not the strangest thing to see.

I have never, ever seen a foreign flight crew on a JAL-badged airplane. Certainly not a 777-200. And as I said, the uniform was wrong too.
The only 777-200's JALWays flies (as JAL/JALways flights) go from Tokyo-Dehli and Tokyo-Jakarta. You're gonna tell me an American flight crew flies those legs even *sometimes*? Never happens. It's about as likely that you'll see an all-Japanese flight crew flying on American Airlines from Miami to Chicago.
The plane and flight crew were clearly filmed separately. That is not a real flight crew, be it JALWays or anything else. They're just American actors stuck on top of some stock footage of a JAL 777. The point is it's pretty distracting, and it's kind of funny that some people noticed a discrepancy that doesn't even exist (777-200 vs. 777-300) over something as obvious as an American flight crew on a Japanese flight!

JALWays uses JAL aircraft all the time. The pilots are contracted by HACS www.hawaiiaviation.com/aboutus.htm

I have. Prior to 2006, JAL scheduled most of their flights to Hawaii as JAL flights. All but one flight was crewed by JALways crews made up of foreign flight and cabin crews. Plus, all the aircraft now flying to Hawaii are JAL livery aircraft.
