BA Concorde's In-flight Magazine Continues

Sun Sep 24, 2000 2:48 am

From today's times:

HAVE you seen the Concorde inflight magazine this month? Cheap gag coming up, you think? Actually, no. A reader has phoned in to say that he has just received a copy of The Briefing, the monthly magazine normally distributed in the seat pockets of Concorde (you remember Concorde? Long nose, v.quick, followed the Fokker tri-plane and the Zeppelin into aviation history's "extinct" column).
What would the disastrous human bomb want with a magazine? Was it some ghoulish joke dreamt up by a fiend who thinks air crashes are funny?

Again, no. It was sent out by British Airways to all high-rolling customers. Well, what would you do with a hangerful of mags for a plane that will never fly again?

"We are very keen to maintain relations with our Concorde passengers," said a spokeswoman for BA. "They would normally read the magazine on the flight. We have written to them to keep them up to date with developments."

But why continue publishing an inflight mag for a plane that doesn't have any flights?

"We are very confident that we will get Concorde flying again," said the spokeswoman.

Well they'd better. Or some journalists will be out of a job.

If BA are willing to put in the money to get Concorde flying again, then i think it could fly. But the question is, can they afford it?

It isn't gonna fly again, and I think It probably shouldn't. Unless they can solve the tire rupture/wing puncture/fuel leaking out BOOM! problem...well that plane has proved itself to be very dangerous to fly....
