I wonder how many hours/cycles Boeing put on it during PIP testing. Will also be interesting to see if any of the 'improvements' will be visibly noticeably. (Other then the oval beacons).

Will #528 be like other recent deliveries with borrowed Boeing seats and no IFE of any type?

528 has a Continental Interior installed. Recent deliveries have had the 'new' Continental B/E Airspace seats installed. There were a few that were 'borrowed' Alaska Airlines interiors, those are due to be replaced soon. No IFE yet on 528.
You are here.

Surely there must be a hundred more painted! I can't do this myself. Where is qfatwa? and Amwest2United? This thread is going way downhill, we are many aircraft behind and no one will bother to update us

Actually, not many a/c have been painted over the summer. The lines are going to get busy start September.

We welcomed the latest addition to our fleet Thursday, a Boeing 737-800 with the new Boeing Sky Interior. This is our last of four Boeing deliveries for 2011, and seventh since the merger closed. We will add another 26 new Boeing airplanes by the end of 2012 as part of our fleet renewal program.

From Airnews:
Boeing delivered the 737-800, which is used as a flying test bed for the performance improvement package, to United Airlines. It is the carrier's fifth 737 with the sky interior and marks the final 737 delivery for the carrier in 2011. It took delivery of three 737-800s and one 737-900ER this year, and in 2012 will take 19 737-900ERs.

So, UA said they will add 26 units by end of 2012. 19 739ER's, 6 788's and 1? Did a 788 get moved up?

This is the sixth incarnation of this thread -- so how is it "going downhill" ?

And your ardor indicates any updates are worth waiting for.

This thread has gotten a little stale, so here is a small update to hopefully kick start it again.

PMUA 757/767 update only.

N505UA (p.s. bird) I do not think it made it to VCV as planned but I could be wrong.
N508UA (p.s. bird) at VCV a week or two ago and now back on the line so I assume it's repainted.
N560UA (p.s. bird) at VCV now for repaint.

N668UA (2-class domestic grey bird) at VCV now also.

I for one wish UAL would rush the "grubby grey" planes to the paint shop!

Some of them look like they scraped an iceberg on the way to the gate.

Now that's funny! ...and true!

I know there are probably many variables regarding the order of paint shop entry, but I believe about half the UA planes painted thus far already had the blue and white semi-new paint job.

The appearance of the pre-shutdown TWA and Pan Am airplanes have nothing on these "grubby grey" ones.

Maybe their thought process is if they hold off a little longer, enough paint will fade and depart the fuselage, that they can save on the "stripping" cost at the paint shop.

When I flew UA 914 Tuesday morning, there was a speed video of a 777 being stripped and repainted on the plane's IFE system. Ironically, UA 914 was a grubby-gray 772.

I haven't been paying attention on the ramp until today...

GUM Based Aircraft as of September 9, 2011:
B738's - 5/8 complete (ships 227, 232, 235, 236 and 246) Apparently, 236 snuck out under my radar and is already back in service! Only 201, 240 and 249 are left.
B73G's- 2/4 complete (ship 720 - Star Alliance and ship 734) Only 735 and 736 left
B764's - 4/4 complete
9K - 1/2 complete (ship 834)
You can take the boy out of the island, but not the island out of the boy!

Quoting Ford3motor (Reply 215):
Total United (116/359) = 31.47%
Quoting ZKNCL (Reply 226):
Total United (119/359) = 31.14%

I'm not a math major, but something's not right?

Using a pocket calculator: 116/359 = 32.31% and 119/359 = 33.15%

WHEN??? does UA have a target date to finish all the 3 class 777's with the new First & Business seat installation? I fly to Brazil often and for over a decade or perhaps 2, UA used 767's only. For a while we got 3 class 767's which was great. Now that it's all 777's they seem to only use the OLD configuration to GRU and GIG. Do they do the same to EZE?

Paint schedule confirmation and update.

777 (2-class)

210UA painted and back on the line.
212UA entered as planned on 2/15.

767 (2-class)

668UA painted and back on the line.
674UA did NOT enter as planned.
677UA entered as planned on 9/17.

757

560UA completed and back on the line.
569UA entered as planned on 9/15.

A320

413UA completed and back on the line.
422UA entered as planned on 9/16.
427UA arrived in GLH last night as planned.
432UA completed and back on the line.
434UA completed and back on the line.

The only change to plan was 674UA did NOT enter on 9/17. This is probably due to it being needed after 664UA (another 2-class domestic 767) was taken out of service due to the 'paint and metal swap' with an Airbus in LAX on 9/16.

I know there are a few posters on here who could list this...is there an updated equipment code list for the CO fleet? I've lost track of what the different codes are for the 737 sub-fleets (I believe the 737-900ER is a 73X) and so forth...Thanks.

Well that wasn't there before

In case you were wondering, yes they went a little logo happy. In addition to stadium signs, the airline logo (without "Center") is on no less than four spots on the boards and all across the back glass of the benches.
Interestingly enough though, while everything inside is done, the marquees over the entry gates and presumably the roof still have the tulip, although the outside shot they use in the game intro vid had it shopped out.

Is there a similar list/thread somewhere tracking the installation of the new business class in PMUA aircraft?

RE: United/Continental Existing Fleet Upgrade Status 6

I'm back from a 6 week vacation in a computer free zone!!

Have just done the Flight Aware check of all remaining aircraft.

Six 737-500s have been to AMA [15 Aug-27 Aug]: N32626-N59630, plus N16632 [only 4 remain to be completed]. Skyliner news advises that N19638 has left the fleet, so one less in totals.

Only one aircraft [738] had a full repaint : N38268 [27 Aug-4 Sept].

From photograph checks, I can add Xjet N13949 & 13988.

From post 225, The Palauan added 738 N35236.

Based on above additions, 47 CO titled aircraft remain to be retitled to UNITED.

N535UA at SFO 16-28 June. ..................................................SHOULD BE FLYING

Presumably these were not painted, due to their lack of inclusion in the latest list?
