Quoting LisbonBearUK (Reply 7): Nothing very exciting at all in that list except OPO, which hasn't been served from MAN since NI left the route a few years ago. |

Quoting UK_Dispatcher (Reply 12): Cameras out for today's Etihad arrival shortly. Something new and sky blue about A6-EYE! |
Quoting lisbonbearuk (Reply 18): 1 or 2 based aircraft?! Wow! That is MASSIVE!! Please, let's get it into persepctive here. |
Quoting LN-KGL (Reply 23): If you look at the average number of passengers each Ryanair 737-800 flew almost 27,000 passengers i June. I don't have the Emirates passenger numbers for June, but the provisional for May showed 50,511 passenger according to UK CAA. In other words two based FR B738 at MAN may well generate the same number of passengers as the three times a day service to Dubai. If these two had flown in June this year, they had added around 2.8 extra percentage points to the growth of MAN. |
Quoting cornish (Reply 19): Yes lets get it into perspective. From a business rather than an enthusiast point of view. 1 or 2 based aircraft by FR generates far more passengers and aircraft movements than say one daily service by a foreign carrier. It has a much greater impact on the airport's bottom line than even one new daily long haul service (even if that creates more headlines), asides something as big as the A380. It certainly is far more significant to the business than a short haul European operator such as TAP starting services for example. |
Quoting col (Reply 25): So any Business plans by MAN and pax numbers from RYR should be written in pencil. |

Quoting col (Reply 25): I can guarantee that both EK and TP will be operating into MAN next year. The same cannot be said of RYR, their history at MAN is not good. So any Business plans by MAN and pax numbers from RYR should be written in pencil. |
Quoting MYT332 (Reply 21): Ryanair, the world's favourite airline, today (12th July) announced it would open its 45th base at Manchester in October 2011 initially with two based aircraft and 17 routes, growing to four aircraft and 26 routes by summer 2012. Ryanair's new base will deliver up to 2m passengers p.a., 2,000 jobs and up to 260 weekly flights as Ryanair invests over $280 million at Manchester Airport. |
Quoting timberwolf24 (Reply 31): There were rumors of UA/CO starting ORD-MAN this past spring but that did not happen. Has anyone heard of any rumors if ORD-MAN on UA could happen in 2012? |
Quoting mainMAN (Reply 27): Quoting col (Reply 25): So any Business plans by MAN and pax numbers from RYR should be written in pencil. I think this time it's a different scenario, FR and MAG have apparently signed a 10 year deal (whate'er that means), and T2 needs filling up, so I expect them to stick around for a while. |
Quoting cornish (Reply 33): Precisely, MAG will have undoubtedly given FR very attractive terms, but on the flip side they SHOULD have put some strong penalty clauses in place as part of the agreement to those terms. If they haven't they are fools. |
Quoting gkirk (Reply 38): Something go wrong with the A380 and B77W yesterday? |
Quoting mhodgson (Reply 39): One of the MAN spotting groups (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/manchesterspotters2/) reports a fuel leak on the A380, and an ill FO on the 773. |
Quoting gkirk (Reply 40): A tech problem with the A380? There's a surprise |
Quoting blueshamu330s (Reply 44): Might be more of a surprise to know the A380 fleet has been achieving 100% despatch reliability some weeks, quite regularly since March this year, and the company is pleased that the type has matured into the fleet sooner than planned. |
Quoting Daleaholic (Reply 46): EK brought their own engineers up from LHR who fixed it within about half an hour this morning after engineers at MAN wouldn't fix it yesterday... |
Quoting gkirk (Reply 43): Some sad news, Olly Cat, the Airport security cat, is leaving the airport |
