On what routes will
BA deploy the 77W this coming winter?

A very short list since
BA has so few 77W's. I wish
BA would order 50 77W's to standardize the long haul fleet and ditch the 747-400 gas guzzlers.

I think some of the gold card holders who frequent J class will be upset that the upper deck has suddenly disappeared

Save for the 20 A380
BA may eventually have, that is going to happen since the A380 will be the only upper deck plane
BA will have.

Maybe so, but the A380 upper deck is a bit less private and quiet than the 747...
To answer the original question, I believe I saw on the intranet that
JFK will still keep their daily 77W although I can't confirm it.

As far as I'm aware, the 777-300ERs will be doing the 2nd daily
ORD run, the 1800
JFK service and the BA5/6
LHR-
NRT-
LHR daily. Pretty much the same as it's doing now

I thought that one of the
HKG services will be 77W this winter? Are there still only three in service? When will the others arrive?

One should be here right about this month, actually. I believe that by the end of 2011 they should have all 6 of them (maybe the last one will come in early 2012).
I agree that the upper deck of the 747 is fairly unique when it comes to private and quiet.. and the seats on the windows have lots of extra room...

HKG is reverting to a 772 for the winter, but it will be interesting to see if both existing flights get up-gauged to 77W or 744 next year to cover the Kangaroo Route traffic. They're replacing daily
QF with 3 weekly
BA which does sound like a big drop...

I found this on their website.
London Heathrow – Hong Kong BA027/028 Boeing 777-300ER (F14J56W44Y183) replaces 747-400 (F14J52W36Y235)
This is for W11.

Had a great flight on the 182
JFK-
LHR last night, it was my birthday so 50A (last row) became 14A. Thank you
BA, you are the best!
A few notes - Y is 2-4-3, much better and more flexible than 3-3-3. The seats are lettered
AB-CDEF-HJK, missing out G. Seatguru.com shows 3-4-3 down the back, hope that is corrected soon!
BA is not
EK or
AF! J class is identical to Club World found on the 777-200 and 747 fleet; then again, why mess with the best J class in the air? The -300 has bigger and clearer screens on PTV, with animated menus and an enhanced moving map. My flight was on Charlie, the newest of the fleet. If I pressed my face up against the window, I could see my reflection in the engine cowling. Didn't get a good look at the new F product but it looked great from what I could see. On my flight, it was the FO's leg, and his first time on the -300. Which is very impressive, he put it down like it was on a parachute of feathers. He said the -300 has a higher approach speed with a shallower deck angle, which he seemed to find helpful. We rolled out with idle reverse.
I hope you have a chance to fly
BA's latest dream machine. You will really love it, I think!

Not according to

B77W has some twin seats at the back, I've sat in them, not as many as the B744, so you may be allocated these on a B77W if you were one of the first to book them. Perhaps have a look at your booking on ba.com.

Does
BA send the 77W to
JFK because of it being their "premier" route? It seems like a waste for an a/c with great economics and range to use on one of their shortest longhaul routes. I'd think
SIN would go to a 77W as well.

They only have five right now, so when they get more, they will almost certainly go to places like
SIN. However, although
JFK is a short route, it is the airline's premier route, with very product conscious passengers (and strong competition). It's important to put a top class product on that route.
