MEM was an alt for the IAD-DFW flight when Braniff was a partner. Saw it come and go.

I remember the day it came in quite well, I was only 5 years old at the time..Its still one of the most memorable aviation moments in my life so far. Only downside is as I was so young I didn't have a camera, So I don't have any pictures of it. I will never forget how it sounded on take-off.

My only Concorde flight was an Air France ferry flight from JFK to DTW in 1999, to position the aircraft for a Nomads charter - an experience I will never forget!

Nomads are defunct? what happened to the 727?

Two Concordes came to DTW within 30 min of each other to DTW back around 1985. Thousands of people showed up to see it land, they had the area where the Wayne County buildings are on the west side of what is now 4R/22L set up for the crowd to watch. It was like an airshow with food vendors etc. It was cool to watch all the other planes too. I wish I had a picture of the Pan Am 747 next to the Concorde, but I didn't think about that when I was 10 years old. The Concordes picked up the Nomads group, took off over us, then did a pass before heading to London.

Pictures aren't top quality - but I was 10 and in 1985 we didn't have digital cameras.

It made at least a couple of appearances at MSY.

One time in the mid 80's it did a "2 hour discovery flight" around the Gulf of Mexico. I remember the newspaper ad for that one. It also flew a MSY-JFK charter flight in the early 00's to deliver cruise pax to to a QE2 sailing.

I believe it came to PIT in 1985 via BA when BA launched transatlantic service to PIT. Then BA ran the LGW/LHR service either once or twice daily with 747/L1011 equipment after that. Then I believe this route went to a daily 767 somewhere around 1997/98 before it was discontinued in 1999. I know BA had a 747 on the route in 1997 because there is footage on youtube from around then of the US operations at their E gates. There just happened to have been a BA 747-200 at the time.

Concorde visited OMA in 1985 or '86. If memory serves, it was chartered by local restaurant magnate and resident eccentric billionaire Willy Theisen.

My parents took me to watch it fly into Eppley. We pulled off to the side of I-680 and watched as it flew over us on final... then saw it climb out (after a low pass) and come around again. A very impressionable moment for a 10 year-old!

BDL received quite a few Concordes back in the days...mainly diversions but a few charters as well. Back in the late 70's when my mother worked for EAL I recall a night when both BA and AF had a flight divert to BDL at the same time...as well as a few 747's. My mother told my father to bring me along when he came to pick her up at the end of her shift...first time I ever saw the Concorde in person.....for a 10 year old kid who loved planes...I was thrilled...I still have that mental snapsshot in my head.

Quoting RWA380 (Reply 30):
When it came to PDX, I was departing from the gate next to it. Lots of press and all departures and arrivals were temporarily suspended for its landing. It was a charter that flew sub sonic from JFK and was something to do with the Oregon symphony. Security on the arrival terminal was limited to passengers only plus selected dignitaries.

Fond memories! I thought it was the late '80s, but could be wrong. At any rate...it was a BA Concorde from LHR and JFK that came in for a promotion through a Portland area tourist agency. PDX was a lot different back then, but it was parked around where the D-gates are now.

My Dad, a mechanic for UA back at that time, brought my sister and I up to see it. We were in a United Airlines vehicle, parked under the right wingtip of a DC-8, parked at Gate 45 (?) I think at the time, so we could get the best view. Well, that didn't sit well with one of the primadonna Port of Portland officials, who came up to us and told us to leave immediately. My Dad then politely reminded the said primadonna that we were on UNITED AIRLINES property (parked under the wingtip of a UA aircraft) and not on Port property. The primadonna waved us a good day and left. The Concorde taxiied right by us, 100 feet away, and DAMN WAS IT LOUD, and that was idle! Won't ever forget it.

The Concorde that came to PDX that day did a "Halfway to Hawaii" at supersonic speed, and then back to PDX. I didn't ask the price, because I probably couldn't afford it...

In 2003, G-BOAG was given to the Boeing Museum of Flight at KBFI, and I was there to see that, too.

I'll never forget that. I was two months in working for Mesaba and got to see it up close. It visited in November 1999 and RONed at Delta's gate 6 before a morning departure. They flew in a tow bar for it and a lucky bastard from DGS got to do the pushback. I stayed at the airport almost all night with it, and overnighting crews and employees were all given tours of the plane. I'll never forget the feeling of being directly under those massive delta wings. I was surprised by how much they drooped. Truly a beautiful piece of equipment and I'm so glad I experience it. The take off was awesome. A bunch of us were just off of runway 18L on the Signature ramp to watch it depart. I was standing on top of a red Mesaba tug as it lifted off; the roar of the engines was so full and loud, like nothing I'd ever heard before. I only wish that I'd captured it with a better camera. Sorry about the, well, sorry quality.

I was on the 1995 one-hour CMH-CMH flight. I think 1997 was the other '90s visit. I seem to remember WBNS talking about a third visit in 1985, but wouldn't know any way to confirm that.

I can confirm Concorde coming to TUL. I arrived at TUL the day after the Concorde had departed. I hated missing it, but I got to see it several times at DFW. As I recall, the trip to TUL was part of a publicity tour. I don't recall hearing anything about celebrating the fact that BN got its start at OKC, but it is possible.

Go find the Airways Mag article on it a few months back, they went into detail over the BN Concorde tour. It was part of the publicity tour about Concorde, but they did the OKC-TUL segment to bring notice to the fact that it was the first route of the airline and to highlight being OKC-born.

Both Airports in Guam UAM (Andersen AFB) and GUM

Guam UAM was also part of the world record JFK-JFK flight HIK-UAM-BKK each leg was 3 1/2 hours !!!

AF was great!!! they gave one seat on each leg to an enlisted US Airforce person to thank them for their help as US Airforce did the ground servicing at HIK (Hickam AFB Hawaii) and UAM (Andersen AFB Guam)

I definitely remember its visit to RFD. I lived about 10 minutes from ORD but thanks to the moronic Chicago City Council who bannedConcorde from ORD (too noisy) had to drive 90 miles to Rockford. There were several thousand people lined up along the fence to see her come in.
I know several folks mentioned OSH in 1998 or 1999, but it was there in the late 80's as well for the EAA fly-in. Got to stand pretty close to the runway and could feel the thunder as she went past on her take-off roll. Had just quit raining so it kicked up a huge spray of water behind it as it lifted off. Very impressive.
