Quoting WestJet747 (Reply 3): But I'm sure the next time we see this aircraft it will be gone since it would be illegal for AI to take delivery of the plane as we see it in this photo |
Quoting WestJet747 (Reply 3): Hard to believe that nobody in Everett had the sense to at least have it covered up (if not removed completely). |
Quoting EK413 (Reply 11): could someone please shed some light on AI and St*r.... Based on the quotes I take it plans to join failed.... any indication as to what went wrong.... |

Quoting WestJet747 (Reply 12): AI was invited to join star a few years ago. To join any alliance takes a good deal of work, mostly in terms of computer and IT upgrades to link in to the other airlines networks so you can print boarding passes and other stuff like that. About a month ago star withdrew AI's invitation. They had just been stalling and not getting their act together for so long, that it would bring into question as to whether they would be a stable partner in the alliance. AI has been plagued by bureaucracy and bad management for years; this has been reflected in their outdated products, and on time performance. In all honesty AI has become a lot better over the past 10 years, they still could not have cut it. I do not disagree with star's decision to rescind the invite, they gave AI years to get things together. |

Quoting 7673mech (Reply 16): Why? |
Quoting WestJet747 (Reply 17): Maybe I'm too detail oriented, but I wouldn't allow for a product to be incorrectly represented in the public view, especially when it can be so easily fixed. |
Quoting qf002 (Reply 10): "Hey Star, I got a tattoo professing my commitment to you" "Yah, AI, we need to talk..." |
Quoting 7673mech (Reply 16): Removing it costs money. (Mechanic, paperwork telling mechanic to do so, etc.) |
Quoting WestJet747 (Reply 17): Boeing has painting facilities and teams in Everett. I'm not saying re-paint the aircraft, just patch it up for the time being. |
Quoting ordjoe (Reply 15): I am sure ST and *A will be courting 9W heavily in the coming days. |

Quoting dlednicer (Reply 22): I have a picture of VT-ANA in the appeals queue right now and it doesn't have the Star Alliance logo. Neither does my picture of VT-ANB that got rejected (I'm not appealing that one). |

Quoting xiaotung (Reply 7): The August issue of the Air New Zealand in-flight magazine had three indian airports with a Star logo on the route map which indicates Star hubs |
Quoting ordjoe (Reply 15): I am sure ST and *A will be courting 9W heavily in the coming days. It is too bad for AI, they really truly have come a long way over the years, joining star would have formally brought them into a new era and close out its darker government run days. |
Quoting Stitch (Reply 5): I mean the JL birds are still in the old colors |
