Plane Crash Causes Massive Fire In California.

Mon Sep 05, 2011 4:30 am

My Dad sent me this link. A Cessna 210 crashed south of Bakersfield and has forced 100 to leave their homes. Check out the pics on the article.

That's awful. RIP to those onbaord. The condition in the nmountains are the perfect fuel source as stated, but that is one huge fire! Is it possible that the aircraft was loaded up on fuel, thus making it worse?

With a title like that, one can easily be misled. Massive fire is not usually associated with a GA aircraft, so I think it wqas more surprise then anything. Don't try to make out Netjetsintl as a bad guy, just someone that was surprised (and maybe could have made his comment a bit more specific).

I have one friend in an evacuated area and several more in nearby communities. RIP to the dead and hope that the fire crews get the fires under control.

Sigh... Late fireseason for California, but it is fire season.

Definate surprise. I think we (as in SoCal residents) became complacent this year due to the cool summer. But the last few weeks have been seasonally hot and that looks like all it took.

While only a little of that smoke has made it near where I live... It changed the colors of last night's sunset to a prettier red.

Just as an aside, back in the 80's when they had massive fires in Yellowstone, we were getting alot of ash in the air, as far south as SLC.
