Runway incursions with animals happen frequently. Why is everybody having a cow over it?

Several years ago one our of caravans was landing in EKA and sure enough a deer ran in front of the plane as soon as the pilot planted the mains. We offered the services of several local hunters to thin out the airport herd but our request was denied. Oh well

According to a local newspaer, a SG 738 ran over 2 monkeys at AMD yesterday. I wonder what would have happened if the monkeys - large black langurs - had been ingested into an engine.

It's better to ask a stupid question during training, rather than make a REALLY stupid mistake later on!

Back in 1977, we lost a KC-135 to a cattle strike. A night training flight out of Castle AFB was doing pattern work at Beale AFB, and a herd of cattle wandered onto the runway - they had gotten through the fence from an adjacent farm. While doing a touch & go, they struck several cows on the runway - tore off the nose and left main gear, ruptured the forward body fuel tank, and the aircraft slid to a stop in flames. All 7 on board (a mix of students and instructors) all got out without serious injury, but the aircraft was destroyed.

Why didn't they just moooooove the cow? At the very least the pilot could of steered the plane away or used the horn! I guess it's just better to bull-doze their way down the runway or did the airline have a steak in the on time arrival? I could milk up more corny jokes but I will stop.

I guess the poor cow didn't have a chance to MOOOOOve over before the plane landed. I'm sure some crazy animal rights group will MILK as much publicity as they can from this incident. I wonder if they'll have to put the plane out to PASTURE??

This is a cowtastrophe for all involved, I can't believe you all are making light of it. Think of the little calf that will be coming home from school everyday wondering where her mother is?

I remember flying in some remote Mexican villages and having to do a low-pass of the airfield to clear either herds of cattle or packs (herd?) of horses. Having visited Utila over a decade ago, i am surprised to hear they even have cows on that little island. I am happy to read all these jokes, and even happier that no one has gotten offended.

I'm sure PETA will call for a protest against the airport, though I believe that a cow does have its place......next to a side of mashed potatoes and gravy.

An excited TOI reporter would have written "monkeys delay flight" and readers would have been wondering if that meant an Indian politician, running late as usual, held up the flight

Which airline was that by the way...? SG shows up as Jetsgo, which isn't in existence any more....
