From The China Post of 6 Oct 2011:
With the new system, the distance between landing flights could be reduced from 30-50 nautical miles to less than 15 nautical miles, according to the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA).
The article is talking about a new ATC system that has been introduced at TPE. Quick pillow calculations last night, based on very rough numbers and based on my observed landing speeds of various L/H aircraft (thanks to the IFE system) told me that these separations would give roughly two to four movements per hour per runway.
I recall that the recommended separation for the A380 is 5 or 6 nm.
Have I missed something?
