SFO/LHR doesn't start until winter schedule (end of October)

Most of the days I see two of them through my window in approach to FRA, so I can confirm they do (did last friday at least)

Are they doing 747 ops to LHR even in the winter? I'm looking to book in April, and I'm finding only 767s from ORD, and only 777's from SFO/LAX to LHR.......
I'd much rather the 747!

I hadn't realized that flights 954/955 had switched to a 777. Those flights historically have always been operated with the 400. (Much has changed in my absence...)

My memory could be failing me, but I don't think 954/955 has been operated by a 747 regularly since 2008.

FWIW I've never seen 900/901 operated by anything other than a 747, although UA does operate a second SFO - FRA flight (926/927) in the summer with a 777...

During the summer, both 955 and 931 are operated with 777 equipment. Last winter, 931 was dropped and only 955 operated a 777 in the morning. After complaints from FF, this winter, 955 will be dropped and 931 will operate in the afternoon (approx 1310) as 747....

My comment was not about UA, but rather BA so I removed it.

Flew out of LHR this morning at 07:30 and there was definately a UA 747 docked at T1 in the old new colour scheme. There were also two 777 in the new new (UA-CO) colour scheme.

I flew aboard UA929 LHR-ORD on October 7th. It was a 744 and a great flight. Only about 3/4 load factor and great flight attendants. I was under the impression UA charged for liquor Transatlantic, but I received anything I want for free...I guess I was lucky! I was also glad that it was still in the "old" blue and white United livery. That livery on a 747 is absolutely the best.

How long does this arrangement run? Through April/May, or does it return to 2X 777 before then?

744's will fly from SFO and LAX to LHR from the end of October through April. SFO to FRA will also be a 744. The 772's will return to these routes in the spring and the number of flights go from one to two per day.

Hopefully, this will create slack in the UA 772 schedule for them to step up the pace on retrofitting UA's 772 fleet.

Is UA planning to switch 900 / 901 to a 777 next summer?

Yes, the plan I believe is to go 2x a day with 772's. This will compliment the LH 388 each day.

Really? I am still seeing a 777 on LAX-LHR this winter and a 744 on UA 900 SFO-FRA in the spring. Is this a change yet to be reflected in the GDS?

I thought Heathrow was pretty much 767 and 777 for United.
