Well, couldn't see anything in the forum about Astraeus so I thought I'd start a thread.

G-STRZ (27622) Boeing 757-258ER is now undergoing EOL checks and will be delivered to FedEx shortly.
G-STRP (136) Airbus A.320-211 is at Kemble being scrapped
G-STRN (28007) Boeing 737-7L9 is being repainted and overhauled prior to delivery to Tonlesap Airlines of Cambodia.
G-OJIB (24292) Boeing 757-23A looks favourite to be leased to Tonlesap once the contract with Thomas Cook finishes at the end of October and after the Haj flights during November. Hopefully it won't be re-registered given the problems in the recent past!
G-STRJ/XU-TSA (25119) Boeing 737-33A is still at BKK after the contract with Tonlesap was terminated. It may one day actually make it back to UK!

This is just the stuff that's on the move. The rest of the fleet are still doing their usual thing with iceland Express and others.

When I get more details I'll expand.

However, until further notice we'll be down to 8 aircraft for the next few months, and then more go. It's the incredible shrinking airline. Still waiting for news on future leases etc.

I'm surprised to see that Astraeus was that big in the first place.  Wow! I thought they only had 3 aircraft.

A lot of travel companies will want to keep what little charter business there is in-house next year, which is bad news for these independent operators.

A lot of charter copanies are shedding aircraft this year (and next year too!)

Are AEU still operating for BD out of LHR?

I saw the ex Dubrovnik A320, (G-STRP) on the 13th, following it's return .

At that time that were taking the engines off, but it was otherwise intact.

Are you sure that it is being scrapped, as opposed to engines removed for overhaul.

Is "Master Bruce" still flying with Astraeus?

I think so but am not certain.

The most recent Iron Maiden aircraft that he piloted of this year's world tour, G-STRX, was ferried to EMA on 5 October to have its Iron Maiden livery painted out. This aircraft will shortly be leased to BD who will use it to operate Hadj flights from MAN and, as I understand it, LHR. I guess the Iron Maiden livery was thought to be unsuitable for Hadj flights.

I think it would be funny if he got on the loud speaker and said "This is Flight 666"

Yes, frequently and we see him regularly here in the base in Crawley.

And VV701, the decals were supposed to be removed at EMA but they proved rather resistant!! It's now at LGW having the decal removal finished off. After which it goes to MAN to start the Haj flights. From there it will be back at LHR until I think the end of November.

I do think they were being a bit wimpy about the Iron Maiden get up! Especially as I never managed to see it! Still, in this day and age you have to pander to the needs of your customers!

I thought of the irony as well (no pun intended). That being said, most of the Hajjis (people going to the Hajj) probably wouldn't understand the significance. Now if it were say to fly into some airport where the Pope was, that would be a different story..

Not sure what that means.

Quoting skidmarks (Thread starter):
Astraeus

Astraeus is known in industry as pprune airways, perhaps discussions relating to this particular airline be best kept with www.pprune.org as that is where the Astraeus owners interests are.

Remember when cadetships were offered for positions with Astraeus, only pprune members were accepted. Whilst www.airlines.net is a fantastic site, this website has yet to launch its own airline.

INSERT PLUG for Demand Media to start an industry cadetship.
