I once had a layover in Luanda that FELT like 80 days, but 80 actual days in the airport would be miserable to me. A few hours watching planes at a good airport like HKG is plenty fine for me.
Then again, this guy didn't have the typical "layover" experience. I feel like leaving security to stay at a hotel is kind of cheating

It´s easier to stay 80 days on the airport than going everyday and deal with all the security again and again....

I'd be so lucky to spend that much time at YVR!! I barely lasted a day at BWN (twice)...this guy had it easy! But I'm sure there's a lot of airports I wouldn't mind staying at for the money he was being paid

I wonder if he got the Canadian equivalent of a green SIDA badge? I'd assume he'd have to, although I suppose he could be escorted through everything and therefore wouldn't need one, but that might be a real pain. Then again, I'm sure he has to be escorted everywhere anyway.

My thoughts exactly. Didn't the guy who lived on an Airtran plane sleep on the plane? That's more realistic. The title of this article should be that this guy visited YVR for 80 straight days. Not lived there.

True, anyone that says they'd like to do that hasn't had to spend more than a day in an airport. When I worked General Aviation I once spent 3 days, that was enough for me.

Surprised no one has mentioned Mehran Karimi Nasseri, who lived in CDG Terminal 1 for about 19 years. Possible inspiration for Tom Hanks movie

Don't they say there is at least an average of about 3 people per airport who live there...? I think there was some old woman at Gatwick who lived there for a few years.

Good idea...but this is miles away from the "terminal". I've been to the Flying Beaver many times for beers and float-plane action. Highly recommend it.
