An extra BRU-ORD United flight seems to be planned on 2 days in May. I presume it will be charter flights.

I don't have any official source, but looking at the calendar of "world events" I bet my bottom dollar these movements are to ferry NATO officials to/from the NATO Summit taking place in Chicago on May 20 and 21.

Quoting Bralo20 (Reply 145):
Apparently they are... UA1761 landed at BRU at 10h30CET. Don't know they reason though.

And that one was to ferry a 777 to BRU to fly EU officials to IAD for the G8 meeting on May 18 and 19.

Hmm... So UA is now flying EU and NATO officials across the pond. Wonder why they would chose to fly a commercial (yet chartered) flight. Didn't these flights happen in the past with official/military planes?

Some route updates

AMS

Quoting LJ (Reply 111):
UX will upgauge MAD-AMS to a twice daily B737-800 for Summer 2012

Isn't going to materialize...

More bad news for AMS... BMI stops flying to AMS as of June 11th, thus 30 weekly flights less, though FlyBe will take over EMA.
CX will do HKG-AMS-HKG nonstop again (with 343)
GA will send their A330-300 to AMS on selected days in July
Air Cairo will return with charter flights to AMS during from July till the end of October (1 weekly to Sharm El Sheikh and 1 weekly to Hurghada

LUX

China Airlines Cargo launched a twice weekly TPE-KUL-MAA-LUX-TPE flight.
Cargolux has started a twice weekly flight to Chongqing

iCRL

Wizzair will start LJU-CRL twice weekly (as of W12)

BRU

easyJet will start BSL-BRU (6 weekly as of W12)
Jetair will fly Brussels - Rabat twice weekly during peak summer time ((June 26th - September 2nd)
Delta will reduce ATL-BRu to 5 weekly during W12

UA1891 landed at 12h10CET at BRU on runway 25R and taxied to Airbase Melsbroek (EBMB) where it's currently sitting on the military apron waiting for it's flight to ORD tomorrow. The flight was not operated by the United Charter B744 with registration N194UA but was operated by a "regular" (repainted) B744 with registration N117UA.

ETD tomorrow is 11h00CET leaving EBMB / BRU to ORD.

Where does that one come from?

Per http://www.flightglobal.com/airspace...ne-scene-week-ending-18-02-12.aspx , it will be the converted KC-45A prototype, after being converted back to passenger usage.

Quoting frigatebird (Reply 146):
I wonder if these 2 will mean phasing out some 744s... Don't think KL will need the extra capacity.

In a way, these additional frames are used to replace the MD11s, although of course not on a one-to-one basis. But the MD11 is being replaced by 772s on certain routes (YVR, PTY), and on other routes, the 772s will be replaced by 77Ws. There are increasingly more 77Ws flown on SIN, KUL, KIX, GRU, BKK, and the 77W is planned for JNB for W12 also.

Like most of the UK lines in the past decades, someone else takes over the route / passengers.

Replacing the MD-11 seems to be priority for KL.

It's already in the GDS and also on www.schiphol.nl. It will remain a ER90 for the entire Summer.
