This version I approve of. Getting the Koru right has made a big difference to the balance of the livery.

Even in moderate zones (like France) in the summer a white aircraft with no ventilation/air conditioning can heat up to a cozy 50 degrees C inside by midday

Yes, thank you, that's not the question. The question is whether that white aircraft would heat up as much as a black aircraft sitting right beside it. We all know interiors of airplanes, vehicles, buildings etc are warmer in the summer than in the winter.

... and as I also wrote:

I've worked MX on some dark blue Falcon 20 aircraft, and it got a lot hotter in there than a light-coloured one...

...having done tank work in both light and dark aircraft in my younger days, dark aircraft are a b*tch to work in. Especially when you are in a sealed suit with RPE.

Magnificent aircraft; hoping to catch a glimpse of it at LHR next Summer!

It's certainly a marked improvement on the rather bland standard 77W livery, which has far too much white for my liking.

Hey guys,

Again a very nice first photo from the KPAE blog website and that is the best looking 777 I have seen so far!!! I hope to catch it when I visit LHR some day.

i doubt they will... looking at the actual tail, on the A320, the tail being shorter, the fern goes almost all the way up to the top, actually making the koru bigger would look messy... it would work if they actually reduced the size of the ferns so that they sit lower on the tail...

Looks excellent, especially with the fern on the fuselage. Wish NZ would make their standard livery a bit more special though, the standard 77W just looks like a long white tube!

Will the engines remain grey, or will they be painted black as on the A320s?

The thing is, my question is about airplanes.

The Mythbusters did it with cars, years ago (2005) and found that the black car got hotter than the white one in identical circumstances. I think that's as close as you're going to get to an aircraft (if you want details just type mythbusters episode 38 into google).

its great, OMG looks better then what I thought it would, wish they would adapt this into the normal colours for the fleet instead of the crappy euro white. ''all blacks plane coming to an airport near you soon from late JAN,'' LAX, LHR ( for the time being) and some Tasman training.. Would they launch a new route with it is the question??

I wonder if ANZ will mark the arrival of 'OKQ in AKL by converting some of its outstanding 777 options. I think it's only right, given the rugby theme, because ...

A conversion should always follow a touchdown!

According to this source heat is not expected to be a problem.

http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/th...ealand-unveils-all-blacks-777.html

...Contrary to popular belief, the black colour will not cause in any significant heating to the aircraft, said Air New Zealand...

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Is there something about the GEs that makes them less paitnable than the IAEs on the A320?

Other than that, looks a tonne better with the larger koru. Still, I hope this doesn't become the new livery by default.
