747-8F In Atlanta

Fri Dec 30, 2011 9:28 pm

I flew out of Atlanta on Wendesday 11/28 and saw a BA 747-800F parked on the south cargo ramp(?) and i know for a fact it was their on Tuesday 11/27. Why is it in Atlanta never seen one in ATL before? Why BA, never seen them in ATL also?

Thanks

BA passage flies into ATL regularly and BA world cargo seems to do the same as well now. Remember that before the days of the 748, all BA cargo flights were carried out by Atlas Air and GLS.

Though still operated on a wet-lease by Global Supply Systems like the 747-400 freighter fleet, the 747-8 freighters are painted in BA World Cargo colors, while their 747-400 fleet is not.

Cargolux was here (HSV) with one about a month ago. That flight usually leaves here for ATL,so a 748 has probably been there before.

ATL now sees the 747-8F regularly with three carriers: British, Cargolux and Cathay (as of this past week). The BAW 747-8F you saw sat an extended time in ATL this past week due to the holidays.

Why the heck was my comment on this thread removed? I simply was correcting the OP that there is no such thing as a 747-800F. A 747-8F is the correct model type. Did some mod take a petty pill with his breakfast this morning?

There are two flights by BA World Cargo 748Fs each week.

The flight that is scheduled to arrive at ATL on Day 4 at 0215 hrs routes STN-FRA-ORD-ATL.

The flight that is scheduled to arrive at ATL on Day 7 at 0015 hrs routes STN-FRA-ATL.
