Quoting burnsie28 (Reply 49): They are all charters. |
Do you know the A330 charter schedules for Feb 6th out of IND? It would be great to get a few photos.

Quote: Due to Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis on February 5, 2012, the check-in counter at Indianapolis International Airport (IND) will open at midnight on February 6, 2012. It is recommended that travelers arrive at the airport at least three hours before flight departure to allow for enough time to pass through the security checkpoint. |
Quoting boilerla (Reply 56): Three hours? Ouch. Hope TSA has extra people on hand. |
Quoting RobertS975 (Reply 58): I suspect that there will not be much in the way of checked luggage, and most folks will be able to do online check-in and avoid the counters. Unless there are weather issues either at IND or the various major hubs. |
Quoting Indy (Reply 57): I don't think TSA will be the bottleneck in IND. I think the problem will be the check-in process. DL will have an incredible volume of passengers coming through and their ticket counter positioning is rather poor I think. It is going to be a complete mess unless DL opens up the other row of ticket counters on the wall kind of around the wall from where their current bank of counters is located. |
Quoting phatfarmlines (Reply 61): I thought IND had set up common-use ticket counters in the new terminal. |
Quoting Indy (Reply 57): While the IND ticket counters are poorly conceived and civic plaza is a bit of a bottleneck, the security checkpoint is probably the best in the nation. It is wide open and they can move a lot of people through quickly. |
Quoting FWAERJ (Reply 62): I know that the gates at IND are all common-use, but I think the ticket counters are all dedicated. |
Quoting RobertS975 (Reply 54): That is unusual as the Patriots generally fly out of PVD on their DL charters. |
Quoting RobertS975 (Reply 69): As I stated, the Patriots generally charter out of PVD on DL 767-300s. This time, they used BOS. There is another time they used BOS, and that is a few years ago when they flew to London for an NFL game. That flight was on VS. This coming October, they fly to London again to play the rams. I suspect that will be on DL now that DL flies the route daily. |
Quoting KC135TopBoom (Reply 66): Final; NE Patriots 42 , NY (NJ) Giants 17 |

It is going to be a complete mess unless DL opens up the other row of ticket counters on the wall kind of around the wall from where their current bank of counters is located. Anyone that has been through IND knows what I mean. If DL tries to serve all those passengers using only the counters they have now it will be a service nightmare. |
Quoting T5towbar (Reply 79): There was 2 Atlas Air 747's at EWR Terminal B yesterday morning. Sound like they were charter flights to to the Super Bowl. Can anybody confirm this? |

Quoting Indy (Reply 82): Where can I get a list of planned flights for the day for IND? I've looked at Flightaware.com and the list seems very inaccurate beyond lets say 7 or 8am. |
Quoting FlyASAGuy2005 (Reply 83): Looks pretty accurate to me. Filtering Delta, it shows all their flights for the day excluding private charters. |
Quoting Indy (Reply 85): If you filter Delta there is a problem with the results. There are two DTW flights listed for 5:25am There seems to be some kind of disconnect between Delta, the IND site, FlightAware and FlightStatus. That flight is either 8779 or 8819. It may be a 757 or 767. Maybe both? FlightAware shows one and FlightStatus shows the other. IND shows both. Delta shows one. |
Quoting FlyASAGuy2005 (Reply 86): I'm not really inclined to post that but yes there will be quite a few widebody departures outside of the extra sections and upgrades. |
Quoting LV (Reply 88): DL's 753's is being flown in from Fort Bragg Air Field in El Paso (I am guessing it just came from a military charter). |
