Picture Of Malev Flock Returning To Lessor

Each Aircraft in the line after the first are all Malev 737's returning to the lessor, via Shannon.

Not very often you get to see something like this happening!

I've also spotted two more, one close to Shannon and one close to Liverpool, pretty amazing sight, would be a great spotting opportunity at Shannon!

Very sad sight   Goodbye Malev.

Quick question, anyone know why MAH5336 (HA-LOR) has travelled from Budapest at around 24000ft when the rest are at around 40000ft?

Yes its weird I have been watching that too and posted about it on the Malev Ceases Operations thread. Also it seems that HA-LOR was alot further south (flew over London) than the rest.

That aircraft has flown the entire route on low altitude airways, notice the sharp turns earlier in the route. Perhaps the pilots wanted to make the most of their last flight?
Next flight: Feb 2012 - BHX-CPH-BHX - SK MD87 / CRJ900

Yeah you might be right, it did make a pretty quick turn into the direction of London. I could imagine how much of a fantastic view of London at FL240 on such a clear night could be.

My guess, one of the air conditioning packs is on MEL. Flight level would be restricted to below FL250.

Hope it is not like a rental car where you have to return it with full tanks or get charged the difference.

Sounds like the controller is having fun maintaining separation between them all, especially when they are all having to backtrack.

Must be one of SNN's busiest moments!

24,000ft sounds like an altitude restriction due to an inop PAC. However, I'd be surprised if it went ETOPS like that.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Must be quite some work dealing with all these, especially with 8 aircraft with all the same callsign. I for one would be getting confused after about 2 or 3.
