Starting march, DL will start operating the 752 to MLB
I heard they would get two flights with the 752, but online I only saw 1.
If anyone can fill in, that would be great!

They had the 752 in during the holidays each evening and out first in the morning.

PNS will see the return of the DL 757 on 1 May it looks like. PNS had it before. It'll be nice to see it again here.

I wish GSP could see regular DL 757's, we only get the occasional one as an MD-80 sub

There are 2. I just checked MLB-ATL on March 19th and there is an 8am and 3:26pm 757 flight. I think that is great for MLB. I wonder why the sudden big jump in capacity.

Last time we flew outta MLB we noticed a large amount of Cruise passengers from Port Canaveral (us included). Must be a good business for DL, I hope they keep them coming to MLB!

DL does well in these "smaller" FL stations. Other stations that see an up-tick to 757s during certain times of the year are PNS, SRQ, and DAB off the top of my head.

MLB for as long as I can remember (and that goes way back to the 1980's) has never had great success. There was a bit of a buzz when the new terminal opened and a number of different airlines served the city (quite a few even at one time) but there never seemed to be any staying power. Delta has been at MLB for a very long time but the service has always been limited. You'll typically see RJ's or a flavor of MD80. Getting two 757-200's is a big win for MLB and the city.
I do think the location of MLB has kept traffic down over the years. There just doesn't seem to be a fast way to get to it from I-95. Ideally W. New Haven and Google maps doesn't indicate it is a very long drive but if you've ever driven that route you know the times listed on Google are not very realistic. The traffic tends to get bad on that road. The best bet for MLB would be to either relocate to the west side of I-95 or hope an interchange gets built around Ellis Rd and then Ellis gets widened to four lanes. MLB will never be huge so it seems the interchange and Ellis road widening would do the trick.
But I really am glad for MLB. I'm tempted to take a day trip down there and fly in on one of those 757's. I lived down there 15 years. It would be nice to see such a big plane at one of the gates.

Late Feb,March and the first half of April have always been good for MLB.
Delta should have done this years ago not this year.
Also, the 7AM Delta flt 2005 will be a B757 starting 16Feb.

If MLB is to succeed as a pax airport then MCO needs to disappear into a huge sinkhole.
Being that this probably won't happen, MLB will probably do the best as a cargo airport.
This depends on the NIMBYs crying about noise again.

I don't think MCO needs to vanish. I used to be a big MCO fan but lately I find the experience there to be much less enjoyable. I think the security setup there is terrible. MCO is losing its charm and MLB could very well be an alternative for people in the area. Just less nonsense with TSA. Of course I haven't seen MLB since TSA came into the picture so it could be every bit as bad as MCO (relatively speaking).

Carriers at MLB did not want to dilute their Orlando operations by offering anything too comprehensive at Melbourne. Passengers that still wanted the convenience of MLB, then as now, pay a healthy premium. This holds traffic in check. During certain sale periods, the fares get closer and business returns, fares go back up and traffic ebbs. As a frequent visitor to Palm Bay, I have watched this phenomenon for years. In a like manner the legacy carriers protected Boston by keeping the schedule thin and prices higher at Providence.

The MLB schedule has been very erratic lately. Last Sunday flt 1756 ATL-MLB was a D95, this past Sunday an MD88 and next Sunday a 757. The 757's I'm certain are spring break and racing related. US has added a fourth flight as well but I'm not sure how long that one lasts.

Just from my experience with the way we route larger a/c. Closer stations tend to win out due to their relatively short time away from base. Not a huge deal to send a 757 down the road to the likes of SAV, RDU, MLB, PNS, etc, etc. where as EWR would be almost double the time. In the case of EWR, there would definitely need to be very high demand. As it is, EWR can barely support 738-like capacity now with all the frequencies it gets much less a 757. Conversely LGA....well 757s every hour from 7am until 9pm every day all day
(well today showing 2x 320s too).What gets measured gets done.

Yes, it does seem that way but people will be very surprised as to how far out these changes are planned. Sometimes 6 months out. Delta tends to change a/c flavor on an almost weekly basis. Flight 9999 may be an MD-88 today and a DC9 on the same week day the very next week then the flight number may change the next week because the departure time was adjusted. The technical system they use is pretty robust.
Basically, each station has it's own database and will show every single a/c type in the fleet and how many times each will operate for that month. So obviously a station like MLB will show 0 for 777s and the like but 757s, MD88s, DC9s will show whatever number it's suppose to get for that month (based on departures for the 30 day period). Nothing earth shattering but I see a lot of complaints about a/c changes and it's really a rhyme and reason behind it.

DL used to fly 757 on EWR-ATL and SLC, 738s on EWR-SLC and MSP. So they can definitely fill them up.
I think it's because they are needed to other places out of MSP and DTW -- as well as ATL and JFK.

What I've noticed for March and April is that EWR-ATL is mainly 319s on the hour. Not nearly as many M88. Also in April EWR-ATL gets a 73G back.
