Middle Eastern Airlines Aircraft Purchasing Habits

Fri Feb 17, 2012 7:48 am

Hi all,
have heard a strange fact which may not be true but would like to check:

- Is it possible that Middle East airlines won't buy aircraft like Airbus, Boeing or Embraer if they have components from I
Israel?

- Is it true for normal carriers as well as for business jet operators?

Thanks!

Hi

I'm not sure if there are any Israeli components in Airbus or Boeing but airlines in the Middle East operate a whole range of different aircraft so I would say it wasn't true.

I don't think there is any type not operated by a Middle East airline at some stage so i think that answers your question.

It would be better if the thread was called "Middle Eastern Airlines" instead of "Middle East Airlines" which is MEA., Lebanon's carrier.

That's true.
Was my mistake. Sorry.
I meant all of the airlines in the Middle East.
I also hoped what I heard was not true   It sounded really strange.
Thanks!

Order as many 777, 787 or A380 to make the front page of the WSJ at the Paris, Dubai or Singapore Air Show.

lol..yup that seems to their strategy. They could opt for the cheaper alternative, and be jacka** like O'Leary and announce the introduction of 'lavatory entrance fee' ...but I am sure they realize that not all publicity is good publicity, and being from that part of the world, they don't need any more negative ones.

Concerning MEA i think they really screwed it up totally with the new feminized livery, the old one was just great, especially on the larger aircraft... What a pity.
