Nice - and both are relatively short routes, and should leave enough time for any tech niggles to be resolved!

= I have been told that this is where it stands and might change - apparently, also depends on the delivery schedule, Indian authorities approving of the 748, and whether the 5th will be received in time for the winter schedule release.

That was a no brainer from the beginning that it will be a flight which you can easily fly with one frame as we only receive one at the beginning.
but which routing will it be...?

India is out of the question. LH is seat-capacity wise restricted to Boeing 747-400 ONLY.

India limits to 400 seats and the 747. The bilateral has no mention of 747 model. Just that the largest aircraft allowed is a Boeing 747 and the seat limit (per aircraft) is 400. This is a very common provision in India bilaterals. In fact, I suspect that KE will fly their 748 to BOM.

India may block the A380s if they wish, for technically a *new* bilateral (well, air service agreement portion of the bilateral) is required for more than 400 seats or anything larger than the 747. Since the 748 is a 747, if it is equipped with less than 400 seats, than it is India violating the bilateral by not allowing the aircraft. Unless they just do not build any gates that accommodate the wingspan.

Could you have a friend join A.net under a new name and have him post it? Have him sight an extremely powerful source! I will wire you the subscription money through my Swiss Bank acct!

Also: I think LH may shock us all with Rio de Janeiro! German's love Rio, my best German friends I've met at local bars and restaurants in Rio. Remember VARIG was very German in it's roots and for a long time Lufthansa and VARIG were BFF's if an airline can have a best friend! So it could honor that legacy now that RG is gone.

The Hindenberg's first flight was to Rio!

Just an odd guess. But where ever it winds up flying: I am going to be on it!

If you believe the Chicago media, ORD can handle the 380, 748, and Branson's space flights.

I think LH will bring the 748 to ORD for summer 2013 with KE and EK adding the 380 soon there after. I also think BA will bring in the 380 as well some day.

I saw that CTT a Swedish company will deliver a cair system for a 747-8, I didn't know they had these systems in old aircraft too.

Hmmm. I'm moving to BLR in the summer and my obvious route in and out will be on LH via FRA. I might be on the first 748i. How exciting!

Why not FRA-BLR? - those 744s seem to be packed to capacity.

Hi everyone

May be these info was alredy given above

For LH , the IATA code for the 747-8i ( PAX ) shall be 74H .

The airplaine delivery is post poned untill May 2012
So the FF commercial regular flight to IAD should start in June 2012
then India will be served by 74H
and by the 4 th Q 2012 FRA -LAX is planned with the new Boeing .

Personnally , guys . Do not mix up DXB with what EK does with their 4 hollers .

The 74H shall not be the plane for Middle East flights . For such trips LH and many carriers have many many common bloody twins !

If FRA-JFK is not getting any 74H, might we see it going all-388? Does anyone know what the next deliveries are?

Well it could work with a mix up of A388 and A333 . I do not see any EU Carrier operating JFK with 388s only on our days .

Well, one of the flights is going 388. The other is staying with the 744. Double daily 388 is quite feasible.

Sadly you´re right. I´m going to Dubai next month. Due to the timing I have no major influence on its via Munich with LHs most boring widebody, a A333.

In February it was said end of March, last week it was April 23, and now, May? Hello, Boeing, wake up, time to deliver on time!

I thought the A388 was withdrawn JFK to FRA? My understanding that eventually at least one daily to JFK will be a 74H.
