Sat Mar 24, 2012 12:18 pm

I try to find it in the photo search engine, but I could get a photo, so did TACA ever operate Boeing 727s?

Depends what you want to consider TACA. If its simply the entity in El Salvador, the no. However if you want to consider the other airline nations airlines that eventually made up TACA grouping then yes.

Aeronica

Though TACA did purchase a stake in Aeronica in its final years, it should be noted that Aeronica and NICA were two separate airlines. The latter is the one that joined Grupo TACA.

TA after merger never flew 727. Only B737-2/3, B767-2/3, A300.

How did LACSA reached LAX?

What routes did TA sent the A300?

SAHSA

I'm not sure about SAHSA from Honduras.
SAHSA was declared in bankruptcy in 1994.
The source wikipedia states about the Honduran airline as part of GRUPO TACA. Nonetheless, I highly doubt it.

rzjets says no.

I second that.
As far as I know, the former TACA and GRUPO TACA never operated the 727 series.

727-200.

Once Lacsa took delivery of their 727-200s, Los Angeles was inaugurated as the tag-on "MEX-LAX" during the early 80s.
Lacsa used to operate SJO-SAL-MEX-LAX, SJO-GUA-MEX-LAX, SJO-SAL-GUA-MEX-LAX and probably others involving San Pedro Sula as well.

They were rather involved into the cargo division around 1999-2001.
Some A300s from Alitalia were converted to freighters and active with TACA CARGO during such filter period.

I flew on an Aviateca 727 roundtrip from New Orleans to Guatemala City in August of 1989. While living in Guatemala from 1990 to 1996 Aviateca privatized, disposed of their 727s and acquired 737s. By the time they integrated into Grupo TACA the Aviateca 727s were long gone. They might have passed on to the Guatemalan Army. But I am uncertain of this.

Yes, SAHSA flew the 722...in fact plowed one into a mountainside in Honduras.
When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

October 21st 1989: the 727-200 registered as N88705 crashed at "Cerro de Hula" during the approach maneuver to Tegucigalpa, killing 127 people.
If I remember correctly, it was routed as SJO-MGA-TGU.
