Quoting dlramp4life (Reply 3): Did they get the ETOPS certification? |
Quoting EricR (Reply 2): Interesting.......many expected G4 to launch Hawaii flights from smaller cities on the mainland. |
Quoting PHX787 (Reply 4): Would they use the apparently leased 757 on this route, or purchase more used craft (that are ETOPS certified)? |
Quoting PHX787 (Reply 4): If this route is successful, we can possibly see them open up a line from AZA-HNL |
Quoting EricR (Reply 2): LAS is an interesting choice. |
Quoting Viscount724 (Reply 7): Quoting EricR (Reply 2): LAS is an interesting choice. LAS used to be the #1 destination for visitors from Hawaii. Not sure if that's still the case. This NY Times article is 10 years old. |

Quoting ASFlyer (Reply 14): There is nothing on their website for any positions in HNL or anywhere else in Hawaii. Seems to me if they were interviewing for Hawaii based positions they would actually list it on the career section of their website. I don't even think they've been certified for ETOPS yet, so wouldn't this be putting the cart in front of the horse? Finally, would they actually announce or tell anyone where they were going to be flying to Hawaii From and where in Hawaii they'll be flying to? They haven't been very forthcoming with their Hawaii plans to this point and I doubt that they'd choose to reveal it to the general public via interviewees first. Just my thoughts. |
Quoting FATflyer (Reply 15): The HNL Base Manager position and a Maintenance shift supervisor for HNL are still listed at the G4 website. http://www.allegiantair.com/aaCareers.php The FA positions were listed for the last couple of weeks but apparently they received plenty of apps and took it off the website. But you can see the FA listing here: http://www.bestaviation.net/jobs/lis...ant-allegiant-air-hawaii-usa-3253/ They have been expecting a June launch to Hawaii for the last couple of months, that has been mentioned in several presentations and media articles. Given that the booking window is narrowing for June we will see if that actually happens. |
Quoting ASFlyer (Reply 16): Anyway, good to see that they're moving forward, though I still haven't heard that they're certified for ETOPS yet. Is that currently underway? |

Quoting slcdeltarumd11 (Reply 21): Surely they have talked to the airport, what gate or gates will they use, what counter space? |

Quoting EricR (Reply 2): many expected G4 to launch Hawaii flights from smaller cities on the mainland. LAS is an interesting choice. Perhaps this signals the start of G4 finally offering connecting flight options. |
Quoting FATflyer (Reply 9): Allegiant is interviewing for an HNL FA base. Also currently looking for a HNL Base Manager. There are still discussions going on about HNL to smaller cities such as FAT and SCK. |
Quoting LV (Reply 23): there was a cover story in Las Vegas Weekly a few weeks ago that referred to the California Hotel (the Cal) as "the 9th island". That was the headline, "The 9th Island". With the Plaza reopening and the El Cortez making a new push downtown I could see where G4 could do well selling Fremont Street packages to Hawaiians |
Quoting LV (Reply 23): In fact, there was a cover story in Las Vegas Weekly a few weeks ago that referred to the California Hotel (the Cal) as "the 9th island". That was the headline, "The 9th Island". |

Quoting FATflyer (Reply 17): Close but not yet final. |
Quoting stlgph (Reply 26): The announcements were supposed to come this month, but alas, that did not happen because of red tape. |
Quoting RWA380 (Reply 24): thus allowing G4 to provide service to multiple west coast destinations 2-3 times weekly. BLI, EUG, SCK, FAT, maybe even doing round robin services. |
Quoting FATFlyer (Reply 28): With 5 or 6 aircraft potentially operating to Hawaii by December, it would be very easy to do those 4 cities plus several others on a 2 or 3 day per week schedule. |
Quoting RWA380 (Reply 29): Exactly what I've been thinking, I'm very surprised G4 would want to fly from LAX. |
Quoting FATFlyer (Reply 30): I'm not surprised that they would consider larger markets like LAX. I don't necessarily agree with that but I am not surprised. |
Quoting PHX787 (Reply 31): They would probably be able to get a lot of o&d traffic out of LAX to Hawaii, especially when it comes to Asian families connecting. |
Quoting FATFlyer (Reply 32): Their business plan is to sell vacation packages not seats. |
Quoting FATFlyer (Reply 32): One of the reasons Allegiant likes the idea of entering Hawaii is higher package ancillary revenue from longer hotel stays, rental cars, etc. |
