Quoting flythere (Thread starter): According to local aviationists, flare was observed during landing of EK flight 384 bound from BKK at RWY 07L. |
Quoting kaitak (Reply 1): I certainly hope it did flare during its landing! |
Quoting flythere (Reply 9): I just got hold of the photos! |
Quoting flythere (Thread starter): Evacuation was taken place on the runway. |

Quoting KC135TopBoom (Reply 14): This is not a big deal. Anti-skid systems don't fail very often, but when the do on a heavy airplane it can be spectacular. This will of course mean replacing many wheels and tires, as well as the effected brakes, and trouble-shoot the anti-skid system and make repairs as needed. |
Quoting Raptor1090 (Reply 22): Okay, granted they may not be a big deal; but shouldn't there be additional precatuionary measures on a heavy airplane so that the wheels etc don't get affected to such an extent so as to diable the aircraft and put it out of service for a couple of days? |

Quoting soon7x7 (Reply 25): Their are, but S---t happens. The aircraft is only a machine...not a magic carpet! When the 747 first arrived, many said it won'y fly, but it did. It constantly blew out tires till the tire manufacturers beefed up the belting internally. 747 landing gears have been redesigned 9 times over its history. The A380 and also 787 will both have teething pains as time goes on but as usual the wrinkles will be ironed out , then the forums will become dull and boring. |
Quoting liftsifter (Reply 20): Given the enormous gamble Airbus took with the A380, I would expect things like this to happen. I'd say something like this is expected.. |
Quoting caljn (Reply 18): These birds are proving to be quite finicky. |

Quoting StickShaker (Reply 27): The safe landing of the QF 380 in SIN following an uncontained engine failure and the loss of many crucial systems is testament to the ability of the 380 to bring its passengers and crew home safely every time. |
Quoting johnclipper (Reply 29): but to say every time that the A380 will bring all aboard home safely based on one incident is too big of a blanket statement. |
Quoting johnclipper (Reply 29): I hope you have not jinxed it now... |
