Flight Trackers Stuck?

Sat May 12, 2012 2:13 am

Currently at BFI, planes are arriving that haven't even departed yet, according to flightaware and fboweb. Also, a MD-11 departed and it still shows as scheduled.

Anyone with more info?

I've been having problems with Flightaware freezing on my computer screen at home and at work, but seems to work fine on my phone. Flightaware has been doing a lot of weird things lately.

I agree. On all of my devices (desktop, iPhone, iPad), most flights essentially stop after about 75% of the itinerary has been completed -- that or they show the position as "estimated." What gives?

I have a Mac, and I noticed that I can buy this for about $7. Before I do this, my questions are these:
--it seems to cover Europe a whole lot better than the US...why?
--How and why would it be better than PlaneFinder, which I really like?
--Flightradar24 can only track aircraft equipped with an ADS-B transponder, no different than PlaneFinder

why?

flightradar24 uses ADSB ground receivers feeding into their picture (You have a small box, an antenna, and an PC with internet connection, which then sends data to them).

USA is not quite into the ADS thingy right now, so only a few ground receivers there are feeding. I don't know what %age of acft in the US have ADSB data on the Mode-S extended squitter transmission.

Yes, I just noticed that too, I have no clue why though.. It does show aircraft of all US airlines above Europe.

Yes, you're right...I need to delve a bit more into the offered Mac App to see what that $7 buys you that the free web site doesn't.

Because the world doesn't revolve around the US.

Oh, come on. It does not have anything to do with "the world doesnt revolve around the US". He simply asked why it doesnt cover the area he is interested in, and it happens to be the US. If I asked why it doesnt cover Australia as good as Europe, would you have written the same thing, "the world doesnt revolve around Australia"?
