Beautiful bird. I really am thankful for LAN being a Boeing customer so that we can see that beautiful scheme locally in Seattle. Also for their continued commitment to the 767.

According to LAN:

Quote:
The destinations the LAN 787-8 will service during its first year of operations will be Santiago, Chile, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Lima, Peru, Los Angeles, California, Madrid, Spain and Frankfurt, Germany. These routes will be gradually integrated during the aircraft’s first year of service.

Between August and October, LAN will have two B-787-8s in the fleet.

No, deliveries will span throughout the decade. By 2014, LAN expects to have 12 B-787s in the fleet.

Nice is an understatement. The 787 looks dashing in LAN's colors.. the curves fit the 787's fuselage very well.. definitely one of my favorites next to QR!

Another great looking 787 - I still think the larger windows make the aircraft look smaller than it really is somehow?

The B-787-8s will feature 30 seats in the Premium Business Class cabin. The Economy Class cabin will feature 217 seats. The seating configuration in the Premium Business Class cabin will be 2-2-2. LAN has not revealed the seating configuration in the Economy Class cabin as yet.

So their configuration is pretty close to their current 763 fleet. On a side note, any plans to have the 787 on the SFO route in the future?

Eventually all LAN operated flights between LIM and the U.S. West Coast will operate with the B-787-8s.

Seeing as to how the 787 is replacing the older 767s, I'd say there's a good chance that, in the future, SFO will see the 787..

It's important to note that the B-787s will also replace LAN's fleet of 5 A-340-313Xs. LAN plans to deploy the B-787-8 on the SCL-MAD-FRA route soon; thus freeing up two A-343s in order to increase flights into New Zealand and Australia. Also, LAN plans to eventually deploy the B-787-9s on the SCL-AKL-SYD route.

Can't wait to see them, although I will miss the sight of the A340s. Speaking of which ( sorry for going off topic) I read somewhere that initially LAN plans to redeploy the A340s freed up from the SCL-MAD route to add more capacity to New Zealand and Australia, do you have any more info ? Would this include LIM-AKL or would they perhaps delink some services and operate separate SCL-AKL and SCL-SYD flights on some days?

LAN hasn't stated if they will open a new route into either AKL or SYD as yet, or even a new destination in Australia. IMO, LA will most likely increase frequency on the SCL-AKL-SYD route in the near-term since the flight is often full. Also, QF will increase frequency on the SYD-SCL route...

Great looking bird right there! With so many beautiful 787 livers out, I hope JAL starts to feel some "shame" about their all white colors.

Best looking 787 so far although I also like AIs livery on the Dreamliner. Much better than the extraordinarily bland JAL "austerity" scheme or ANAs aging look.

The first LAN Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner (which the Company will receive before the end of the year), exited the paint shop of the Boeing factory in Everett, Washington with full livery completing the last phase in the assembly process.

LAN Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner

LAN will be the first airline in Latin America, and one of the first in the world, to receive this aircraft, with the first delivery expected in late 2012 and delivery of 32 total aircraft over the next 10 years. This represents an investment of U.S. $3.5 billion and marks one of the largest investments in the Company’s history. The configuration of the cabin on the first LAN 787-8 aircraft will include 217 Economy class seats and 30 seats for Premium Business class.

LATAM's CEO, Enrique Cueto, gave an interview last month where he states that LAN will receive its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner by September.

Quote:
Chile-based LAN's first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner has completed the final assembly process in Everett, Washington, ahead of its delivery to the airline in September. LAN will be the first Latin American carrier operating the aircraft with 32 787s on order. The airline recently completed a merger with Brazil's TAM and the merged carrier's chief executive Enrique Cueto told Flightglobal in June that the first 787 will be delivered in September.
