Loaded Gun Found In Carry-on At BDL 7/25

Wed Jul 25, 2012 8:00 pm

Quite a early morning scuffle and scare at BDL this morning. 5:35am to be exact.

The woman is from 2 towns over, just over the river from BDL... I'm the town that's partially in BDL... scary thought

Happens all the time. TSA blog puts out a weekly report over what guns they found , which airport and if it was loaded.

Interesting, I have a friend who's a TSA supervisor there at BDL and he said it happens more there than expected. This is the first I've seen so far at BDL.. never knew about the blog..

Where was the scuffle? The story didn't mention it.

Agreed. In fact in many states that are firearms friendly, people carry them in their briefcases and just forget they're there. it doesn't mean they have malicious intent. I had one colleague going through the Atlanta airport who did just that. We give him a hard time about it to this day...

My friend who's the supervisor for TSA there at BDL said there was a bunch of state police in there, and I think 2 bomb squad guys came in just in case.

Why should this be a surprise that they found someone with a weapon, that is their job right? This is the United States of America where everyone has the right to bare arms. So are they saying she should have let them know about it or what should she have done? I suppose she should have left it at home locked up and the ammunition secured separate from the gun, she probably is not that bright.

I believe the right to bare arms is a global initiative, although it's tough in the winter time. The right to bear arms however is all about the US of A. Sorry, couldn't resist

$500 cash bond.

That means the offence is considered more of a misdemeanor than a federal "you're going down for years" offence?

Correct. She probably just had it in her bag and forgot it was there. No malicious intent.
