TAM To Fly GIG-MVD, Add A 3rd GRU-MVD

Wed Aug 22, 2012 11:01 am

Effective October 1, 2012 , Latam thru their subsidiary Tam will build up on the absence of Pluna Uruguay.
After requesting 14 weekly frequencies between Brazil and Uruguay, it requested yesterday two daily flights to ANAC:

JJ8038 GIG 0745 MVD 1050 A32A - Daily
JJ8031 MVD 1145 GRU 1410 A32A - Daily
JJ8030 GRU 1455 MVD 1730 A32A - Daily
JJ8037 MVD 1830 GIG 2110 A32A - Daily

A32A = Airbus A320 with Business Class (12J 144Y)

3rd daily service Sao Paulo-Montevideo increases their service that already covers morning and late afternoon with a mid-day departure.
1st daily service Rio de Janeiro-Montevideo allows int'l connections to/from GIG, as Latam is willing to do.
New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

It's great to see TAM increasing regional routes within South America; especially from GIG! With TAM increasing frequency on the GRU-MVD route to 3x daily and launching GIG-MVD; TAM will be the dominant carrier operating into MVD from Brasil. LAN plans to add a third daily flight on the SCL-MVD route later this year. It would also be great to see LAN resuming services between LIM and MVD.

Great news! With PU's absence, the GIG-MVD market was completely left dry. This schedule, like the LIM service, fits TAM's hub banks at GIG allowing connections to the longhaul services.
Please insert a "smart" joke here.

Offers connections onto TAM's flights to CDG, FRA, JFK, LHR, and MIA via GIG, (connections to MCO available via GRU).

More flights via GIG = smart way to decongest GRU for transit pax.

Well TAM will increase frequency on the GRU-MVD route to 3x daily and will deploy the B77Ws on routes to North America starting next month. Then LATAM will increase frequency on the SCL-GRU route to 8x daily in December in order to offer more connections via GRU. However, it's good to see TAM launching new routes from GIG. In October, TAM will launch three new routes from GIG: GIG-LIM, GIG-MCO and GIG-MVD.
