NICE JOB! They kept this one under tight wraps. Usually a.netters spoil the surprise! Livery looks great. Congrats to the state of Colorado!

Uggg. The Colorado flag is so cool and Colorado One is not. Why the emphasis on white?

I think it's too white too. In front of the wing, it looks great. Behind, it's too white for me.

Beautiful job! I can't wait to work this plane! I am curious as to why they didn't do this on an -800?

It is the 5000th 737 built. N230WN. That may be the reason.

I don't think they could've done much more to the design without altering the design of the state flag. It's a very angular and color blocked design. Hard to transfer onto a jet with beautiful curves. I think the citizens of Colorado will be very appreciative.

Looks like the registration was N230WN, or close to that. I couldn't quite make it out in the video on my phone. I'm assuming that aircraft was due for repaint?

Cheers!

Any reason why this wasn't on a new delivery? AFAIK the last one was N945WN "Florida One" which was a new build aircraft from 04/2010.

Looks horrible. Too much white. Almost looks like a retro-livery to me.

Quoting SXDFC (Reply 6):

For one, not all cities will see an -800. Second, all -800s delivered are already in service, so it would be harder to keep it under wraps.

I'm surprised it's N230WN. We thought it would be N7734H since thatS A -700 and it's an FL conversion that was finished last night.

Interesting look to it...not sure I like it. I will wait until I see it in person before I decide if I like it.

If the only criteria was how long WN has served a particular state, then we'd be seeing Oklahoma One, Louisiana One and Arkansas One before we'd see a Washington State One.

If you are complaining this looks too boring, shouldn't you complain that it looks as boring as the Colorado flag?

I suppose they could have put some mountain images in the white, but then some would complain they were modifying the basic look of the flag!

Uhh...maybe it it because they have how many hundreds of daily operations out of DEN? Or maybe the fact it is soon to be a crew base might shed some light on it. Sorry, but just because SWA has been serving SEA for longer then DEN, does not make it more important. Sounds like more of a personal issue then a SWA one!

Washington State hasn't supported WN service all that enthusiastically. Local travelers chose AS/QX for SEA-GEG and WN dropped the route.

As a citizen of Colorado, I disapprove. This makes it seem as if DEN and Colorado as a whole are nothing without WN, which is very much not true. What would it take to get WN to remove the livery, seeing as they've not only butchered the Colorado flag, but they've also made a huge assumption as to their role in the local market.

Same thing goes for F9, before anyone calls me a fanboy, as soon as Republic bought them they lost my "hometown" support. N202FR, whatever the name itself may be, does nothing for me.

I imiagine it has to do with number of flights to/from that state and/or market share. Also, WN didn't actually go into Washington State on their own. They inherited Washington due to their merger with Morris Air. Offhand, I can't think of any specialty state plane that WN has where the state became part of WN's system due to a merger.

Everybody I know in the Pacific Northwest, including myself to some extent, swear by Alaska Airines for travel if possible, within respectable cost. People in Seattle are VERY proud of Alaska Airlines..

While, as an enthusiast, I'd love to see a "Washington One" special livery I doubt it'll ever happen. If SW ever does it, they probably won't reap any benefits.. especially considering how many region-specific liveries AS has been introducing. Also, just look at Southwest's market share at SEA compared to DEN, LAX, TPA, etc. Tiny compared to their other *focus* city airports. And then there was the Boeing Field controversy..

Quoting ADent (Reply 2):

Colorado One is literally the Colorado flag painted on an airplane and it's not cool?  confused

Eh, as others have said, the DEN ops are huge. SEA is small beans compared to DEN for WN and frankly, there are probably other states ahead of us ("Georgia One" isn't going to be much of a shock) in the running.

Quoting ScottB (Reply 32):
Washington State hasn't supported WN service all that enthusiastically. Local travelers chose AS/QX for SEA-GEG and WN dropped the route.

The rivalry with the wildly popular AS and that whole fiasco with wanting to leave SEA for BFI probably doesn't help the chances for a "Washington One." There's also the small matter that our state flag is impossibly boring and wouldn't make for a very cool theme plane, but that's just my opinion.

Maybe DEN doesn't "need" WN, so I guess you could give him that.. but WN needs DEN (since it's a focus city, and all) and giving CO a special scheme fits their trend. It's, really, no big deal.

So.. since two of the three largest carriers at DEN don't have your hometown support does United, a Chicago-based company, have your hometown support? Spirit?

Perhaps it is because DEN is more competitive with the dual UA and F9 hubs. DEN needs more promotion than SEA or GEG.

Personally, I think the plane looks pretty cool.

I think that both DEN and WN have developed a symbiotic relationship of sorts where both are committed and appreciative of each other. And in that, it is the best way of doing business.
