AA is cutting back mainline departures by 1% to 2% through the end of October, in order to deal with the delays and cancellations. Have the schedule changes been loaded into the system yet?

I'm currently booked on 10/14 on 1689 departing BOS at 10:15 for ORD. This fligh has been cancelled on Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Is there anyway to find out now if AA intends to cancel 1689 on the 14th?

AA is running a schedule change at this very moment (just after 02:00 CDT, 23SEP). I'm flying in Nov 18 and the aircraft type and my seat assignment just dropped out, though the flight and times haven't changed....yet...

Stay tuned.

I'd like to find this out as well.

Interesting stuff! I am also booked to fly American Airlines in October - three flights on the 8th and 9th. Nothing has changed yet... cross fingers they stay and that there are no delays when I fly otherwise I am screwed due to the connecting nature of the flights (two to each other and one to fly to London).

Any chance of these potential problems spilling over into November and/or December/January? I'm booked to fly AA from LAS to LAX the day after Thanksgiving -- and I have an onward connection to Brisbane and then Perth on Qantas; return to the US a week later. Then I'm booked on AA on a New Year's Eve flight from LAS to BOS (through and changing planes in DFW) with a return on 1/6/2013. I suppose that gives me plenty of time to make a contingency plan.

Perhaps AA is beginning to give in to what the majority of the industry does by downgauging or canceling certain flights on slower days, such as TuSaSu, or TuWeSa or WeSa etc..

we down here in GCM have seen AA reduce from the usual 3 daily flight to just now 2 to MIA.

Its usual here for this time of year, end of school holidays and no one wants to travel it seems. We normally see them return to 3xdaily sometime in November or December.

I presume they either have the aircraft on downtime for maintenance during this period (local airline KX does this and normally has an aircraft gone for C/D checks) or would some other routes see increase during this time of year?

Seems to be flights affected are those flown by MD83 and 737 aircraft.....that isn't much help since those two fleets account for 3/4 of the fleet, but should help some.
