Just wanted to hear whether EK has already announced where it will deploy more A380s, either first time on a route or by replacing an existing frequency currently flown by another aircraft type.
I am only aware of all LHR flights going to A380 and the second daily CDG flight going from 77W to A380.
Any other announcements (in other words: no "I so much wish that xxx would see the A380", or "xxx could really need one, planes are always full", or "there has been talk of", etc) ?

It has most of the A380 routes and frequencies (but I see it is missing the second CDG frequency that I believe is coming), but it does mention some that are coming as well.

1st of October they are starting the direct DXB-MEL-AKL flight as A380. Also 1st of December sees one of the DXB-SIN flights become an A380. Finally 1st of Jan sees the other DXB-JFK flight upgrade as well.

AMS is a daily A380 flight. JNB has been permanently suspended, there was talk of reinstating it in December but they decided to put that A380 to SIN instead.

This Airline is truly the juggernaut of the industry these days, they seem truly unstoppable.

For EK, the current A380s, with EK's cabin fittings, need a bit more range. The mid-2013 A388s will have that range. This is due to a 'wing twist' that improves cruise fuel burn and a MTOW increase. So patience... I do not expect an EK A380 at LAX before then.
Heck, due to the A380 wing crack issue, EK had to pull 777s off routes to replace A380s. LAX lost one of its daily flights to free up several 777s. That implies that LAX isn't the first route for expansion. However, in 2013, instead of a reinstated 2nd flight, I expect an upgauge to the A380.

DXB-MEL-AKL starts today replacing one of the 3 777 services to MEL each day. I'd expect SYD to grow to 2 daily A380s from EK within a year.

PER will see the EK A380 sometime in 2013 when Gate 1 is fully converted. EK has told the airport itself to get its sh*t together!

What is the break down in EKA380 Configurations. I know there is a high and low configuration, but how many aircraft in each fleet?
Are all flights staffed with the two shower attendants still? Where do they sit for takeoff and landing, jumpseat or passenger seat?
Not to mention soon MH too! Talk about punching abover our weight!

I thought there were only two configs: one with crew rest in the rear economy cabin and one without (the latter for shorter legs).
As the lower deck is already all economy, the only way they can increase capacity is to encroach on the premium cabin upstairs.
Maybe for some routes a J + Y only config could be adopted?

Now that IAH has LH on daily A388 service, when might EK up guage the route from the current 77LR to its own daily A388? Ramp space at IAH will continue to be problematic at T-D as TK will be beginning service next spring along with possibly further additions like NZ as well as a rumored new Asian Star Alliance partner (maybe ANA, Air China, or Asiana) beginning service middle part of next year as well. If you recall IAH was 2x daily before the 2nd flight was pulled to start DFW. The only thing that would create a problem is the need for a 2nd compatible gate like at D-4 (where SG parks now).

I know EK operated an A380 as a promo flight but I doubt BHX could handle the A380 on a daily basis with the current runway and taxiway configuration... Probably with the current runway extension work the runway & taxiway will be widen...

Runways are not an issue. Runway 15 offers 2575m and Runway 33 2600m. EK manages to get the 77W out of there without restriction on most days and I don't see how an A380 would struggle. Taxiways A and B however don't leave much room for manoeuvre.

I was dissapointed when the A380 service for JNB was sent to Singapore instead, but had no idea that JNB has been permanently suspended. EK still advertises in Johannesburg as a A380 destination. I think we could see it return as more A380's are delivered, probably in the first quarter of 2013.
In my opinion, I think EK763/764 should receive the A380 over EK761/762. I've done that flight a few times and its always full.

I meant the taxiways... Sorry... I'm well aware the A380 utilizes 20% less than a B747

That's when the QF Alliance takes affect... Wouldn't surprise me if QF reinstate the 2 services in 2016...
