Interesting, it was my understanding that they were on the verge of ordering Q400s instead.
Surprising win for ATR.

Actually, Bombardier was desperate for them to order the Q400s (which are beautiful aircraft), but the decision could always have gone either way.

Not really. First, the ATR is much cheaper than the Q400. Second, for the sectors they'll be using them in, the extra speed offered by the Dash is not really needed and third there was the MZL runway issue, even if Bombardier tested the Q400 and it was able to land and take off, there needed to be modifications to the airport's taxiways, while with the ATR those weren't needed and it is arguably a more capable aircraft for serving Manizales (a metro area of 500k in which AV is the sole operator with 8 daily flights to BOG, so it's a very important market to them).

Great news, the Fokkers are literally falling apart, don't know how the ATRs are doing at TACA Regional.

Are these outright purchases or are they being financed by any lessors? It seems odd that the first delivery is for mid next year given the backlog. They must be coming from existing production slots.

Cheers

Oh nice! Congrats to ATR! Would be great to see a render of an ATR 72-600 in AV livery.
Upcoming flights:
April/May: AM MEX-SCL 788 (J), AM EZE-MEX 789 (J).

Could any of these be going to NI courtesy of AV buying TP ??

It seems like AV already has the TP deal in the bag... and NI has a fleet of 6 x Fokker 100 that badly needs replacing.

They also have 8 x Emb 145 that have seen better days...

It seems that 10 would be for Colombia and the other 5 for central America , but since LAN would be leaving the domestic market . I'm pretty sure that AV will take advantage of this extra 15 frames , which means that Olaya Herrera will be full of red again . making a really bad decision by LAN to leave what AIRES left for them !

Great news! These will complement the existing TA ATR-42s with Islena and AVIATECA. But it is good for streamlining the fleet for maintenance sake.

Are the ATR-42s and -72's going to be cross-utilized across Central America and Colombia or solely within Colombia?

You are jumping the gun big time.
First of all, commercial airlines are not allowed to operate a 72 seater aircraft such as the ATR-72 from EOH.
Satena does only because it has a special status.
So, unless regulations change, or AV decides to re-deploy some F50s, I would be far from certain that "EOH will be full of red again".

LAN stopping domestic flights within Colombia? Since when was this announced? Is this official?

That is correct, the AT42's here are falling apart...hehe, so they will be replaced first. Several crews flying this ac will start training soon.
