Jet2 Holidays Livery Question

Sun Dec 23, 2012 4:56 pm

I noticed that Jet2 has some aircraft in the Jet2 Holidays livery which is almost identical to the livery of US based Allegiant. Can anyone explain the connection between the two carriers, if any?

Thinking as usual they would be nothing like each other I looked them up - and it is shocking how similar they are (although not identical).

I'm surprised Allegiant aren't ready for court action, although they don't compete in the same markets it reminds me of the Gulf Air copy a few years back.

The aircraft are leased from Allegiant and are therefore in a hybrid scheme.

Many of the Jet 2 Holidays aircraft are not leased yet still get painted with the sunburst livery.
The livery actually is subtly different to Allegiant

Only two 757s are/were leased from Allegiant.

Those were G-LSAL and G-LSAM and these are now with Allegiant.
They were released at the end of the UK 2012 summer timetable.

Now N903NV still yet enter revenue service with Allegiant

Both were painted into Allegiant colours in the UK at the beginning of 2011 and were former Thomson/Britannia aircraft. US serials were allocated however Allegiant postponed delivery instead leasing them to Jet2 for 18 months.

The other Jet2 Holidays aircraft are clearly based on the similar livery with some modifications
Sun bust colours differ as does the hue of the back ground blue.

It is entirely possible even probable that Jet2 have paid a license fee.

Allegiant colours for comparison . Note they have modified their sun bust with more red/orange !

Knew there was something in it. However the liveries aren't the same! The tips of the sun on Allegient have more of a red flame, Jet2's don't!
