It kinda reminds me of Mexicana....I think it is the blue colour and is it supposed to be a bird?

Looks like a redesign done right. Modern and stands out. Surprised to see an airline get it right in recent times. Hope the livery stands up to expectations.

Sigh, a sign of the times we live in. We can't wait for anything announced formally anymore, we must get a sneak preview, a "stolen" image, a tweet, anything so we "know the story" before anyone else. Personally I'm looking forward to 9 CST to see the whole picture.

Hmm... not bad but... its just... gray... you could loose it in LHR on a dark gray morning and might even confuse it´s tail for a blast fence.

Let´s wait for the official pics.

I"m sorry but this has got to be just a huge huge mistake it this is the best AA can do. It's like they have given up and just said throw any [email protected] thing on the plane and pull it iout. I mean, that's horrible. Every other rebrand from a US carrier, and even WN, has been hugely better than this one.. I just can't stand that TAIL! IMO, they should have put a huge eagle on it and let the talons come down on the fuselage. But that it about as bad as seeing tourist in other countries wearing the US flag as pajamas or boxers or something.. just wrong and disrespectful and autrocious!

The new American livery reminds me of... Cubana.
Colours on the tail should be more subtle, they are too much "in your face", in my opinion.

I almost feel like they should have just the actual American flag on the tail to go along with the red stripes. The blue and red stripes together... well it's going to take me quite some time to warm up to this.

Well, looks like that is the new livery, and wow - that is pretty bad. I agree with others that tail looks pretty awful. I actually really like the new logo, but that livery leaves much to be desired, unfortunately. If they had just put a little more effort into making that tail not look so cheap and basic, I think that would have gone a long way. Oh well ...

It is definitely a big change, but I'll get used to it. Its classy, modern, and VERY American. The 77W will look gorgeous on this livery. We'll get used to it. It is definitely better than any of the other US carriers.

Lol face it, none of you were going to like it no matter what it looked like.

I personally love it. For whoever said it's rediculous to have the US flag on the tail, there a several airlines that do this... what makes the US any different.

I think it'll look great on the airplanes.

Logo is nice... I'm not sure about the scheme though.

It has the potential to look great in person, less so in the drawings.

Nice going, AA. Two very large thumbs down. The livery was about the only thing that didn't need changing. This will be a case study of 'what not to do' in marketing classes for years to come.

Ugly, the logo looks like directly printed from Word. The grey looks a bit Spirit-like (new livery). The tail is not that bad in my opinion though.

I love the new livery. IMO, anyone who doesnt is stuck in the 80s or 90s. This is what liveries look like today, and this is the way modern companies are branded in 2013 America. Get used to it!

The tail is hiddeous.... but im sure it will only fuel more speculation for a US merger, same as in how the Delta widget pointed to the northwest when they unveiled theirs....

Cubana de USA.
Major letdown.

I was expecting something along navy-blueish eagle and titles to go along with battleship grey.

Yes it absolutely did need changing. AA said so themselves.

Aside from being old-fashioned beyond belief and looking shoddy when the planes have been in service a while, the new planes with much higher composite content needed a painted finish.
