OFFICIAL: New AA Livery Today!

Bloody hell Why cant one airline just do something right. I was actually impressed with the logo and then I see that tail and think it must be a joke? It looks like the paint is all warn off.. I cant believe anyone would think this was a good idea. Its embarrassing.. lol gosh!

RIP all liveries.. I cant remember the last time one was not a steaming pile of cow ****.

Since we have no AA mainline here at YOW, I have to ask. Will AA Eagle aircraft be painted en mass or only when needed?

Upon viewing it a bit more, I think I love the body, but hate the tail. Especially in the video on AA.com where they line up multiple tails...it just looked tacky to me. But the fuselage is great.

maybe AA can do what Honda did when they launch the 2012 Civic. It was such a disaster, that they had to do an "emergency restyle" and relaunch the damn thing 1 year later with much better results.

Man, I can't stop looking at that tail and TRYING to like it.............

Just one word: Horrible.

As a matter fo fact, two words: Extremeley horrible.

If they cannot keep the silver polish for whatever reason, they should have taken a more radical approach instead of painting 90% of the plan in a grey that tries to imitate the silver but is just boring, depressing and uninspried.

Wow. Those shots of the 77W in the video looks stunning. The one where it climbs out of GIG for example (at 3:06 minute). Hope the real thing looks just as good.

I was excited when the logo came out...then disappointed with the tail when I saw the livery here. The tail looks too busy and doesn't do the logo (or AA) justice. Sort of gives off a Cheapo Air feel.

The logo on the tail would have looked great. Or a few stars on the tail, but this thing is just horrible.

A pity because the logo itself is really good.

Very true. I covered my eyes as I scrolled down the page earlier. Personally I like the anticipation of watching the video.

IMHO I like the logo, I'm sad to see the current logo go. But I don't like the livery itself.

Personally I don't know if that were deter me from buying an American Airlines flight (after all that's what AA management want. There not in business just to keep a.nutters amused) especially considering there new products......not that I could afford anything other than Economy.

But we'll just have to see. If its unpopular with passengers (not just us) and effectively devalues the brand then AA management will just back paddle

Well, maybe when US Airways takes over they'll change it to something much better. Hard to believe that after nearly two years studying and planning for a new livery and branding that this is what they decided on.

I'm with the "fail" crowd here.
They could have done some kind of stylised eagle head in a deep navy blue and ran the blue and read down the body some now with a silver top. Keep the font they picked etc. To me, this looks like something somebody would paint a freight train up looking like.

Not very excited, but I do like it. Looks fresh. But while looking good on the 777 rendering, the real gray is dull on the 737 what makes it less attractive. The fuselage sadly is so empty like almost anywhere else recently. I give it 7,5 out of 10.

Nice logo, but I don't like the tail and the grey color. I don't like either the bare engines or winglets, too simple design..

Hahahaha.. I found it funny that most Americans from the US are like.. "uhmm.. NO!" and those from other parts of the world are like "yay! patriotic! very cool"...

Sorry, I just find this funny.. For those around hte world who like it, some Americans are willing to sell it to you so they can try again.. you can get it DIRT CHEAP!!!! like, FREE!!!!! In fact, we will give you $100US to take it OUT of our memories too!

The tail design does look very charter or low-cost...honestly I wish they had kept the old design, just with a painted gray body.

I like it, I think it's nice. As expected, it puts a modern face on the airline and a rebranding is essential as the airline comes out of bankruptcy, introduces new aircraft, and has a new product.

Much better, for example, than the "new" United livery, which is awful and does nothing to create any excitement for the brand.

Logo fantastic, silver/grey even looks good but the tail...oh my, that does in fact remind me of something from the 80s but I can't quite place it, was it a t-shirt or sneaker design? either way, has the look that the front logo was designed by a professional designer and the tail design by their 6 year old kid. Suppose we'll get used to it, just such a change after the same design for 45 years.

I personally like the new logo and livery! Did anybody see the new American Eagle titles!?

The tail - its going to take time - like the DL livery - for it to be accepted, but its going to grow on me. Just say to say goodbye to such a beautiful, bare-metal livery with the Eagle and AA gracing the tail.

Perhaps it's not the design I would have picked but I don't think it's bad. But I like it if only for the fact they had the guts to almost completely break from their previous designs rather then a "modernization" of an old logo, something their domestic competition seems happy to keep doing. Maybe it's just me but it feels like for the past two decades or longer Delta has had a delta , United had a "U" (you can call it a tulip if makes you feel better) , and Continental had a circle/globe.

I understand it's not an easy task to go from a classic livery to a new one, but frankly I'm not impressed or inspired by that new livery. It looks cheap.

The DL tail looks like artwork compared to fingerpaint on the new AA tail.

It appears to me just scanning the thread that probably 70%+ seem to hate the new tail design. How did the AA designers not see this?

I think the Logo is great. I think the tail is good. I think the two of them together is incongruous. The logo is rounded, soft, subtle. The tail is firm and rigid. They don't work well together. It is too bad.

I hate to say this about any new livery..... but it looks very cheap !!!

Personally for me, it's not a livery for a Nations Flag Carrier !

Still think this livery is fantastic....

I believe the newamerican website had a pic of eagle's new livery painted on the expressjet's crj-200's that will go into service on feb 15 in dfw.
