Quoting RWA380 (Reply 7): What will KU use 500M for? If Kuwait had not been invaded then, and KU didn't have it's fleet destroyed or taken, is there any chance they could now be one of the strong powerhouses in the Middle East? |
Quoting gulfstream650 (Reply 4): According to Wikipedia, 42 aircraft were destroyed belonging to Kuwait Airways - then 10 stolen. |
Quoting kaitak (Reply 8): As to KWI being a major regional hub if the Iraqis had not invaded, I doubt it. KU has never been the most imaginative or visionary of airlines, though I can only imagine that it must be quite shocking/saddeing for Kuwaitis to see how the likes of QR, EY and EK have developed, while KU - which has been operating since the mid 1950s - has effectively stalled. It's not as if Kuwait is a poor country! |
Quoting kaitak (Reply 8): I have no doubt that if Kuwait had someone with the vision and energy of QR's AAB, then KU would be a far larger and more successful airline today. |
Quoting bennett123 (Reply 3): Airfleets indicates 2 A300-600 and 2 B767-200's. |
Quoting kaitak (Reply 8): I understand that KU is soon to invest in about 20 new aircraft, although I think they'll need much more than $500m to do that. |
Quoting n729pa (Reply 15): I would love to know what happened to the SP they had YI-ALM. There's a picture on Wikipedia (link below) not sure if this is the same one or not, registration appears to be different ......anyone know? |
Quoting northstardc4m (Reply 17): Iraqi had more than 1 SP... ALM (Saddam's flying palace) is, AFAIK, abandoned (officially stored) in Tunisia, along with YI-AGP (747-200) |
