wonder what the medium-to-long term indications are for a "proper" QF associated airline to start operating to MAN. Perhaps they might be regretting "encouragement" they received a few years ago from another airline to give up our route.
Jet2 is going to be running a couple of Christmas shopping charters to New York ex-MAN for the 1st time this year.

Cathay Pacific Cargo are also starting a new service on the 3rd April using their B748 aircraft. It will operate as CX4068, arrives 06:15 and departs at 08:50

Err well surely from March 31st EK will be the said 'QF associated airline'. Unless you are thinking JetStar might make an appearance in which case good luck with your wait!

Pretty much zero, in my opinion. The only chance of that is if they decided on a fleet of (either QF or Jetstar) Dubai-based 787s to fly European legs, for themselves and on behalf of EK........AMS, CDG, FCO etc, and I can't really see the point in that, other than increased market visibility.

Possibly. It would be interesting to know how their new arrangement with EK affects transfers and yields on LHR services, especially as Southern/Midland passengers now also have LGW and BHX at their disposal.

Am I to understand this is a daily flight? Is it direct from Hong Kong?

THe flight routes to/from FRA. It's going to be one of the upto 4 weekly service.
STN is now officially part of the Manchester Airport Group as the deal was concluded today.
Loosely MAN related, EK is now sponsoring Lancashire CC with ground naming rights.
LH is cancelling MAN-TXL from the start of the summer season; their UK general manager Christian Schindler" We weren't disappointed with the passenger numbers at all, but the yields were a bit soft because there was so much leisure traffic on the route." Saw an all white Metro II today at Manchester, registered EC-JIP. A quick scan suggests this plane is either owned by Via Tauro or Euro Continental Air. Can anyone provide the answer and some more detial of the airline (fleet etc.)?

Were MAN's runways shut for 30 minutes at lunchtime today? I ask because at 11:30 EK17 was decending nicely over the peak district but it didn't actually land until 12:25, a much longer delay then a simple go around.

It was them that closed the runway! Steering problem so had to be towed to stand, caused a handful of divs.

Correct, the A380 caused the runway closer. Was at the viewing park when it happened, everything seemed normal at touchdown. We only realised that there was a problem when they didnt taxi off the runway, some had thought it went off the end! I have pics of it being towed to the gate.

A MON 757 left SYD as MON9934 on 5th March but went to AKL as part of the RTW trip. Not connected to this though as it's still not back.

By chance, I heard MON9233, G-MONK, get airborne from Praia in the Cape Verde Islands this morning. Only TOM fly to Cape Verde from the UK, so it wasn't a regular IT holiday rotation. He dropped into Faro.
Perhaps that was it on the way home?

25 years ago (1988) down at the old car park on the brickworks we heard the rumour that TG were coming into MAN that November twice a week extending the DC10 service from Stockholm. About 6 years back there was a TG press release stating that they intended to serve Manchester within 3 years.
I live in Bangkok and would love to see the MAN service become a reality but........................
