DAT ATR-72 A "permanent" Solution At SRP. (+Video)

Tue Mar 19, 2013 8:06 am

Danish Air Transport (DAT), who operate the flights between Oslo - Gardermoen (OSL / ENGM) and my workplace Stord - Sørstokken (SRP / ENSO), have increased the capacity on that particular route, by replacing their ATR-42 with a 66 seater ATR-72.

The reason for the switch of aircraft, is a result of passenger growth due to increased industrial activity at Stord.
During the first full week of operations with the ATR-72 on the SRP-OSL route, the number of passengers nearly doubled, proving that there was certainly need for a larger aircraft.

DAT have made a deal with the private owned airport (SRP), to operate the route at their own financial risk, as the airport will no longer be purchasing the service from DAT. With the number of passengers expected to increase over the next couple of years, it could prove to be a wise move on DAT's behalf.

The ATR-72 is expected to operate at Stord on a "permanent" basis, for as long as the number of travellers is high.

During the first week the ATR-72 started operating at Stord, myself and a colleague decided to capture some of it's arrivals and departures on film, attempting to do so with at times, perhaps unusual angles.
