And then it has to be the "Max" or the "Next" or the "XWB". Wow, so extreme to the max. So next generation. So out there, down with the kids, futuristic, new age blah blah whatever. God I hate corporate marketing departments. |
Wouldn't it be awesome if we could just go back to the days when things were 'Good'. As in, "It's a good plane." Nope, we have to super sensationalize everything. Can't sell anything unless we use employ a healthy dose of hyperbole in the branding.
AeroKiwi, I feel your pain. Just be glad you live in Middle Earth where people are a bit pragmatic and grounded in their expectations. I fear your head would explode if you were subjected to just 1 hour of the commercials featured during
TV PrimeTime in the States. As long as Airbus or Boeing do not feature pilots/co-polits rapping and breakdancing with their Microsoft Surface Tablets in the Cockpits of the new 777NEXT or the A350XWB (narrower than 777,747,380...but it's still extra wide?), then the likes of you and I will survive.
Boeing could take a page from Lee Iacocca and Carol Shelby and name it the 777GLH (goes like hell) for the 8 and 9 models, and then the 777GLHS (goes like hell somemore) for the 8LR.
learning never stops.
