Do the maths
The operation is too big for one Terminal, it is actually that big now.

Page 279 onwards. Certainly seems that they do wish to consolidate in the South.

Would it not fit in the South Terminal even if everything else moved to the North to make room?
Next flights: LGW-LBA-LGW, LHR-SIN-SYD, SYD-BKK-LHR, LGW-GRO, GRO-CIA, CIA-MAD, MAD-LGW

Interesting... So it looks like EZY's idea is to cram more gates onto the South terminal and keep other airlines (like VS, DY etc there with them!)

There would still need to be bussing unless they modify the northern gates on the main pier to be A319 sized from their current B747 size. Not a bad idea actually if it means overhauling the building.

The current plan is to be 100% South Terminal some time in 2015.

What's the size of the based first wave nowadays? I heard 50-ish.

I saw something that said "50 based aircraft operating to 101 destinations" so the first wave must be 50 or so, unless their standby aircraft are included in that 50. Of course, there are also non-based aircraft operating some departures before the last of the first wave has gone (EDI, GLA, BFS, SXF, MXP, GVA... any others?)

Currently 42 stands at LGW South if you include Pier One.

I believe 52 or 54 for this summer. This will include 1 x Aircraft stopping in CPH, BCN and MAD overnight.

The first wave stretches from around 0540-0830 during the Summer, so plenty of time to move aircraft around. If Monarch and Thomas Cook moved North, easyJet could definitely have their entire operation at South (even now) without any more bussing to remote stands than there is now. Keep Virgin, FlyBE, Norwegian and some overseas carriers at South as they have the bulk of their flights during the easyJet 'lulls' (0830-1100, 1900-2100).
