I would be surprised if BA actually need to use the aircraft for line training the flight deck. Circuit bashing seems to be a sadly missed art.

Otherwise, very warm.

I would suggest you not say anymore. BA has not made this information public for a reason and those of us who may know the plans, are meant to keep them confidential.

What's the point / reason that BA keep the short-haul A380 runs this summer such a secret ? I don't understand this - I would have thought BA would milk every ounce of PR going to coincide with the A380 introduction rather than pretend it won't be around till it starts LAX in Oct.
I know in my company clients have been enquiring, mostly high-spending business clients looking for corporate incentive trips seemingly.

The reason for keeping it secret is so to not build expectations. It will be treated as an aircraft substitution when it does operate to allow for greater flexibility if for example one of the departments involved wanted to use the aircraft for training on the ground or other tests, engineering etc. So by not announcing that it will be flying on X route for Y weeks/months, the company can basically use the aircraft as it suits on a day to day basis during that period. While some believe that it would be best to announce it and build on the interest, the decision has been made by senior management and all involved have been asked not to release the information as to planned operations.

Thank you for your answer. Surprised that BA is thinking this way, but I do take your points, even if I do think the commercial benefits from announcing at least a few confirmed services would outweigh other factors. I guess though it's safe to assume current A380 regular airports will get a visit or two this summer.

I think BA want to introduce it without fanfare so as not to over-shadow the operation of the 787 when it comes into service.

If they make a big thing of the A380 passengers will be looking out for it.

Have they ever fanfared any aircraft? I didn't see them waving flags about the tiny A318 going to New York.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

I've just received an email from BA referring me to the latest publicity info on their website, if you look it shows Club World, WTP & WT but not First.
Club WTP & WT look to be absoloutely identical to the offering on the 77ER's which is now being fitted to the early 772's

The question is, will First be the same, or are they holding back on releasing this as its a new product ?

Very regal. Lets hope they give each individual names like they used to.
