New Livery For Avianca

Avianca has a new livery! It has been spotted on a brand new A320 in TLS:

No doubt, I do prefer the hold one. But lets see how the final version is going to look like.

To me it looks like almost every new livery theses days - with one very nice detail though: the way they painted the sharklets.

I actually liked their old livery alot, sad to see it go. Along with that, their new livery is ugly and boring.

Its a steaming pile of crap like every other new livery. Massively bland step backwards. Year after year the sky gets more boring.

Although it is a bad copy of AA, I do think it gives a more corporate feeling which is probably what they are aiming for. Would have loved to see the 787 on the old livery, however since it is more than a year from being delivered we will probably have to get used to this...

Is it only me, or are marketing depts doing the exact same thing all over the industry?

Unfortunately this was leaked in colombian aviation forums a few weeks ago and the only thing it's missing is the Avianca titles at the front of the fuselage. Everyone was hoping this wouldn't be it but apparently it was. The logo is a cheap copy from AA, pathetic.

Yes, the finish on the sharklets is probably the only stylish thing about this look.

Indeed. TACA's livery was the blandest of all the latin american liveries. It's sad to see that they didn't keep the iconic red, pathetic.

They could have gone with something more creative, like keeping the planes red but instead of the AV condor incorporate the TA parrots. But you know, ad agencies these days scream of mediocrity.

I'm so sad to see this beautiful livery go, Avianca will no longer stand out from the crowd at every airport we fly to.
this is not a step backwards, it is more like a marathon.

Not a fan. One can hope for some last "wow factor" element to be added, however it appears that two neat liveries (old Avianca and older TACA) were diluted into one blah, bland scheme.

It's almost like cafeteria food: excellent in concept, depressing in execution!

It reminds me of Germanwings' new one and also of the aborted Iberia's new livery. It's fresh and modern but I still prefer the old one.

the livery wasn't even a decade old, I was glad when they dropped the Suma livery and got the one thats going and now this.

Please tell me that is not the finished product. The livery looks unfinished and lacking any creativity. In fact it looks like a clone of Taca's horrible livery.

Absolute rubbish. I take it there is just one guy designing every airline livery these days as they are all the same boring look.

I liked the 80s/90s Avianca livery. It was a very good look. Was upset when they changed it but the new one wasnt all that bad. This however is very bad compared to what they had before.

The new livery should be cheaper to paint. I expect that's one consideration that goes into such decisions these days.

Add me to the list of folks that are unimpressed with this mediocre paint scheme. That said, however, it's orders of magnitude better than that awful "Summa" look of a few years back.

Totally agree. If they were inspired only by their first logo which can be found here, they would be showing something unique.
I hope they have chosen a good font (the simplest possible) for the name Avianca.

Is this a bad joke? Are you sure this is a new AV livery? If so, very sad and totally unnecessary, as the current one is one of the best around.

I am not sure why people are surprised that all these airlines are going for much more "simpler/ boring" liveries.. These colorful liveries especially AV don't really look very nice when they fly around with a faded red top and a filthy underbelly.. I like the new colors, and I hope they manage to keep it a bit more cleaner than their previous livery..

One thing I am a bit curious about is if they will introduce a new interior with this new livery? Their current seat fabric design has been around for awhile..

Totally agree. Specially the tail with the flag colors being mixed. I really loved the current AV livery. If someone had to change their paint in the AV-TA mix, that should be TA. Their livery is rather boring and not appealing. Why just don't do what they did with AV-Brazil? Just change the colors of the tail with their respective country's flag color.

As Falkerker said, I too believe it is in the interests of corporates. Though the old livery was original for us, the new one could be more appealing for customers who are after 'modern' liveries which give the company a sense of development....

I think they needed to change the liveries, it was reflecting Colombian flag colors while Avianca has turned into a south american airline.

The colors of AV-Brazil are the same from Avianca Colombia. They used to be green and yellow I think, but that was when it was still called OceanAir. After the rebranding to Avianca, the colors reflect those from Colombia flag colors, and anyone that pays a little more attention to the plane will notice this.
The new livery is not perfect but the old one needed to be changed. Nice move by AV.

The newest frames are coming with leather Y seats (I've seen them on A318 and A320, not sure on A330). I think they should upgrade their soft product somewhat as usually the catering has much to be desired... Service is usually good, though (if you speak spanish)

I think it would look nicer if it only had more colours, but I wasn't too fond of the old one, so the new one is definitely a step in the right direction. Less white, and it would be perfect to me.

That sounds incredibly funny, but you are right. It´s what would have made the most sense. Not this bland, identityless, neutral, PC, corporate "we are all monochromatic" color thingie they came up with. I see this plane and I have no idea what country it belongs to.

This isn't a huge change and not a bad one either. It saves money and somewhat refreshes the image. Let's face it, as much as some hate the "Eurowhite" look, most of the livery is the tail since that's the best canvas for branding and isn't nearly as often obscured by other aircraft, jetways, ground equipment, etc. so that's where the investment in a livery is best used while practicality can weigh more heavily on the fuselage.

Everybody gasped when AC introduced their current livery. But, like it or hate it, you can always identify an AC aircraft especially when its outside Canada against a sea of Eurowhite. Same thing goes with current AV scheme...Orange top fuselage? ...yup, it's AV.

While the new tail colours may hold some promise (hoping something additional goes over the various layers of orange), the overall look is no longer unique. Too bad for AV.

What on Earth are they thinking of? Replacing one of the smartest liveries out there with something bland like this just doesn't make sense. It's not as if the current one needed changing: how old is it, five,six years old?
