MAN News 49.. QR 787 Time

MAN news 48 locked early

As per thread title, QR is going to operate rthe 787 to MAN:

Sunday 19.05.13 on QR41/42
Monday 20.05.13 on QR45/46

Other news:

U2 have 60% to 70% loads to DME which is above thier expectation
SQ are adversting 1st and business class on hoardings in Manchester. Not seen them do that for a long time.
FR doing offers on 32 routes ex-MAN. Bus currently touring the area
LS dropping TLV from October.

I've given up on the timetables they display as they tend to give me headaches trying to work out what the dates of operation are on some routes

Apparently Germanwings (4U) are to end services to Stuttgart (STR) as of October 26, 2013. Any know if this is true?

Also, Condor are rumoured to be launching some routes as of next year. Currently the list of destinations are as follows:

Fuerteventura
Ibiza
Kos
Rhodes
Palma de Mallorca

On Sundays Condor will be operating Kos-Frankfurt-Kos as well.

And Jet2 are upgrading themselves for 2014 with these increases:

Barcelona (BCN) goes from 5 to 6 a week
Reus-Barcelona South (REU) goes from 2 to 3 a week [seems they are competing with Thomas Cook now]
Bodrum, Turkey (BJV) goes from 2 to 3 weekly [presumably to rival Monarch]

The above Jet2 flights take place as of July 2014 apparently.

Looks like the Thomson 787 Dreamliner to be delivered May 30/31st and enter long-haul service on July 8 after flight testing on european routes. First long haul service will be Cancun followed by Orlando-Sanford.

The CAA stats for April are out. Not had chance to look at it closely. However 2 things:

rhe STR route showed a 90% increase in passengers numbers to over 4,000 passengers. Looks like to achieve the volume, they had to drop prices = losing money on route,

DXB. Very little traffic on the route, I'm afraid. Just 63,700 passengers....or put another way.. 354 passenger per flight! Seriously eclipsing the NCL average of 276 passengers where the talk is of a 2nd daily service there. Can't wait for EK19/20 to be officially upgraded to A380 and EK23/24 goes on sale.

Well that sounds quite impressive. The 3-class B777-300ER that operate EK19/20 & 21/22 have a seating capacity of UPTO 364 seats (source Wiki -apologies!). If MAN always receives the densest aircraft (364 seat B77W and 517 seat A388) then that's a load factor of 85.3%. In reality MAN sometimes receives the lower A388 config' so the actual load factor is slightly higher still.

With the progress Bravo Charlie Charlie is doing now, it looks like it will land shortly after six local at MAN. QR41 is now over Kuwait.

Arghh..Why did they send 787 for their morning flight??? Sunday afternoon arrival and departure would have been great for 787 as lot of people can go and watch it...Monday most people can't go because of office, studies etc...unfortunate this. Last time when Boeing 787 was suppose to come to MAN, I went there at 7pm as that was the schedule time and it came at 10pm in the night so I missed it that time. I hope Thompson get one soon and will be little easy to spot it but personally I would love to see in QR colours as it suits better on 787.

Airlines don't often take into account the needs of spotters....

I saw a Gambia Bird A319 last Friday morning (17/05) departing MAN. Nice surprise of course, but could only make a marginal picture from T3. Is this a regular flight of some sorts?

Probably due to the famous runway problems at WMI that Ryanair have been complaining about all year. Has the work finished there yet? Must be getting close by now.

I reckon the taxes and inconvenience costs to passengers for operating into WAW instead of WMI are costing Ryanair a fortune!

I don't know but would imagine it's introduction would lead to it being 2 daily again Will be interesting to see if BA and QR codeshare as this could become the all-onewold one-stop route to Australia to counteract the EK/QF partnership.

A6-ETC medical divert yes, around 9am parked on 61. Left an hour or so later after passenger and baggage offloaded.

Thomson 787s G-TUIA and G-TUIB both been delivered in the last 18 hours.

Few "interesting" charters today: Air Europa from Venice at 4.40pm, 3 lots of BA charters which should be E170s and a Tunis Air charter an hour before the scheduled service.

Times for FlyNonstop- services begins 3rd January.

Mondays: arrives 2000 depart 2050
Fridays arrives 0800 depart 0850

Keep around 8th October "free" as there's an NBA game taking place at the Manchester Arena... think last year we had a DL A319 bringing in basketball players so perhaps it may come again?

Zip goes 20 million passengers on a moving annual basis again... but the 1st time for 4 years.

Just overnight check-up being done by Monarch Engineering. Probably going to be getting "odd" visitors like this with Monarch being a "Boeing GoldCare" partner for line maintenance on 787s.

I've been watching her on FlightRadar24. It's great to see SP-LRA here in Manchester. I flew on LRA for LOTs first 787 flight WAW-PRG in December!

Two reasons: Monarch is a Boeing GoldCare partner for Europe, plus Monarch won the maintenance contract at the end of last year for LOT's Dreamliner fleet and consequently have a support team in Warsaw for it.

Terminal passengers numbers up 10.5% in May to 1.89 million with movements only up by 0.8%.

Moving annual total = 20.04 million or up 4.5%

They say they are 2 months ahead of schedule for hitting the 20 million mark; whilst these results are being achieved, it is hard to see how any amount of lobbying will result in APD being reduced/scrapped

Even the freight tonnage increased by 1.3%.

So we had a bit of drama with TCX A330 G-OMYT suffering a bird strike whilst departing....just prior to a small, insigificant aircraft arrived. 3 or 4 diversions to LPL but at 1.45pm, UR82060 touched down. The airport's tweeted for a departure around midday tomorrow (the 75th anniversary of MAN)

The Antonov's departure is now delayed till tomorrow morning. According to apron media, its due to them not having the correct paperwork to fly through russian airspace.

Doesn't make any difference for me, im still 4000 miles away...
