Qatar 787 To CPH?

Tue Jun 11, 2013 2:55 pm

Politiken newspaper in Denmark is reporting that Qatar will start flying the 787 between Doha & CPH from September 1st. Can anyone confirm if this is indeed the case?

In the Scandinavian thread someone (in fact it was someone83   ) posted that ARN will see the 787 from August 1st, and CPH and OSL will see it from September 1st.

Were these routes previously A320 or A330 routes?

Will be great to see some of QRs A320 routes upgraded to 787s

Can't wait until the bring it to PER, with persistent rumour they may then send it on to AKL!

As much as I want to see the 787 here in PER, I'm less than confident in it happening. They have announced it for a second time, but this time, they didn't announce a date, and last I heard, QR was doing well with their 777-200LR, and the 777-300ER is coming here often as well. It just seems odd to revert to a smaller plane (understandable when the service was new, and load factors weren't quite as high).

However, would't be surprised to see it in the future as a second service to PER.

These routes are currently A330s.

I wish VIE would be upgraded to 787s

Qatar Airways to introduce 787 onto Scandinavian routes

Qatar Airways plans to introduce Boeing 787-8 onto its Scandinavian routes in Aug/Sep-2013 The airline plans to place 787 aircraft on Doha-Stockholm Arlanda service from 01-Aug-2013, followed by services from Doha to Copenhagen and Oslo on 01-Sep-2013.

Doha-Stockholm Arlanda

DOH-ARN is a A333 on some days, so the 788 would a downgrade. I can see that as a possible A350 destination next year.

In fact, the QR 787 has slightly less J class and slightly less Y class seats than the A330-200 as well. So across the board, it is a downgrade in seat numbers.

However, lower trip costs and added appeal should make yields better on this route, and I would not be surprised to see the A350 at ARN, OSL or CPH in the future, but some of that depends on how fierce the battle with EK will be.

AFAIK DOH-CPH is operated with a A333, so yes, that would be a bit of a downgrade in capacity. Their 787 has 22 J and 232 Y seats. QR's A333 without first class has 30 in J and 275 Y seats.
Future flights: CPH-BOS; CPH-SVG; CPH-PVG-HKG-MNL-DVO; CPH-CDG; CPH-NRT; CPH-MIA; CPH-PVG
