Thomson 787 At SFB
Does anyone know if Thomson is still planning to fly the 787 to SFB on Monday and what time? Also, anyone with experience planespotting at SFB have suggestions on good places to watch from?

Well if it was to operate TOM156 from MAN then it would depart as follows:
TOM156 0940 MAN 1335 SFB B788
TOM157 1600 SFB 0455 MAN B788 +1
I am pretty certain that this is what they'll be operating along with the possibility of another 787 operating to CUN at 1030 on Monday too.

I think one a/c operates GLA-CUN, with a second a/c LGW-SFB. The 3rd will be spare/crew training

The 3rd will continue doing the LGW short / mid haul programme unless required to fill in if a long haul goes Tech. Number 4 will do a similar short / mid haul programme.

G-TUIA made a visit to Gran Canaria Thursday evening, first B787 I have seen in the Canary Islands airspace so far.

SFB is a very hard airport to spot at due to the private hangars around the property as well as FBO's around the perimeter. Be cautious as the aircraft owners will not hesitate to call the police to report you.

G-TUIB has just gone over me operating LPA-MAN.
Echoing what others have said, SFB has a reputation as a difficult place to hang around.

Tomkell, the 787 is operating the MAN/SFB on Monday - probably the best place where you are safe to take photo's as long as you have a good lens, is the top of the parking garage.

I'm not too worried about it, I'm sure there will be somewhat of a big gathering of people to watch it.

TUIC at GLA from HAJ to operate a long haul tomorrow.

I can confirm that the first 787 long haul flights are as follows:
Manchester:
TOM156 0940 -> 1335 SFB
TOM157 1600 -> 0455 MAN
Glasgow:
TOM518 0940 -> 1330 CUN
TOM519 1530 -> 0630 GLA
The above times are local. Still no flights from LGW yet. Interesting too see that GLA gets the nod over LGW.
The carpark roof at MAN does offer a great vantage point for spotters, with a great look over T1 and T3. However, I prefer to go to the Airport Pub situated at the end of RWY 23R. I was there yesterday and saw 2 of TOM's Dreamliners.

TUIC made it safely across the Atlantic to CUN from GLA. Wonder how the passengers enjoyed it.

Thanks for the info guys. I worked some connections I had and got ramp access at SFB right along the runway. I had been told no cameras, so I only had my phone, but it was still cool to be that close to her when she arrived and then departed. And there were plenty of cameras to be seen. One of the local TV stations had their helicopter there covering the arrival.
