Wed Jul 10, 2013 11:28 pm

For all of IAH fans (though I suspect that most know) CA commences their 4x weekly service tomorrow.

What time is it due to arrive? Is it still going to be flown with a 777-300?

The one good thing to come out of the UA-CO merger is the proliferation of new airlines at IAH. Keep 'em coming!

I'll be flying this route in September (LGA-IAH-PEK on UA / CA). Looking at the seat maps, looks like different sections of the plane are blocked off / reserved in groups of rows. I'm not sure if that's for tour groups or based on how CA is offering available seats to other airlines.

Flightaware shows it as a 77E... I'm assuming this is incorrect..right?

It is on a 77W, so yes, unfortunately.

The "Smiling China" airframe should be a great addition to the IAH landscape.

In fact, if I could swing it at this late date, I'd be there myself -- camera in hand.  Smile

I haven't figured out to link from my ipad yet, but the Houston Chronicle (chron.com) has some good photos on the front page of the on-line version. The blurb with it says there were over 300 people on the flight... and then it goes on to say it was Air China's first new route in 30 years. Really, Chronicle, really? God I miss the Houston Post.

I can't believe they're saying it's the first new route in 30 years.

CA does not have 77Es. Must be a 77W.

I saw it fly over my neighborhood! It was the Smiling China livery! This is a grand moment for IAH!

Congratulations to Houston and Air China!

It flew over our golf course today while turning downwind for landning west, we all had no idea who it was with the picture here we have gotten smart! Awesome addition to our little airport in north Houston!
