TAM 763 At JFK?
So I'm drivin into JFK tor my flight around 2:30pm and what do you think I see sitting there next to the road, but a TAM 767! But, not only did I see a TAM 767, but I saw one sporting a sexy pair of winglets! I had no idea TAM was outfitting their '67s with winglets! Socan anybody what it's doing here? I thought TAM was all a330 and 77W (which I also saw parked at a remote stand for the day) at JFK.

TAM schedules show a daily 763 nonstop GIG-JFK. Arrives 7:55 AM and leaves 7:10 PM.

Yes TAM recently took delivery of two ex-LAN 76W's.

TAM have just (in the last couple of months) received two or three ex-LAN B763s with winglets to replace the A330s that are being returned to lessor. Those birds were only in the LAN fleet about six months to a year and had winglets on delivery to LAN.

TAM currently has three ex-LAN B-767-316ERs in its fleet:
PT-MSW (CC-BDJ)-->Delivered to LAN during NOV12
PT-MSX (CC-BDK)-->Delivered to LAN during DEC12
PT-MSY (CC-BDL)-->Delivered to LAN during DEC12
The ex-LAN B-767-316ERs are currently deployed on the GIG-JFK and GIG-LHR routes.

Also, TAM recently took delivery of its ninth 77W (PT-MUI) which will be deployed on the GRU-CDG route later this month.

The winglets are fitted on LAN's 767s after delivery either at ATL or MEX.

And come with LAN Business Class seats (Flat), a plus compared to JJ current seats (Lie Flat).
New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

OK, what I meant was I don't think they are ever seen in revenue service without winglets, unlike the former Alitalia 767s that TAM has/had(?), but take your point.

On that basis, I would rather fly the 767 too......

True. JJ still operates 3 former AZ 767's. They operate GIG-MIA-GIG, MIA-MAO-MIA, CNF-MIA-CNF and BSB-MIA-BSB.

A great improvement to the fleet, compared to the older A332's and ex-AZ 763's. Y gained a better hard product too, with IFE (not present on the ex-AZ birds) and the 777 style overhead panels. I'm planning on flying BSB-MIA-BSB in November, I hope the three old ones are gone by then. If not, I may consider a stop at SCL first.

2-2-2 J seating (only one less across than Y class) isn't good on a 767 compared to the significantly wider Airbus cabin. The carriers with the best J products on 767s have/had 5-abreast configurations (2-2-1 or 2-1-2) which permitted much wider seats, equivalent to those on larger widebodies.
