One day maybe all aircraft should have sensor if gate jetway or staircase remove the warning yellow flashing lights come on if move away. It would be better for people to alert it. If the door closed flash lights will turn it off. That makes sense!

Oh dear, that's a nasty thing to happen. All too easy to see how it can be done when you're in a rush. Here's wishing her a speedy recovery, and being grateful for the fact that she wasn't injured even worse.

There have been a few fatal accidents involving falls from aircraft. Two that come to mind.

AA flight attendant fell from the door of an A300 after he opened the door to evacuate the aircraft following an emergency landing at MIA in 2000. The aircraft wasn't depressurized and he was sucked out and fell to the concrete below.

Mechanic (part of the crew) on a charter 737-200 in the U.S. fell and was killed while trying to close the door before departure during a thundersorm.

Small point but he was blown out - not sucked out.

Never assume anything when it comes to an airplane, in flight or not. The same as a handgun, a moment's inattention can be fatal.

That depends on the point of view. If you look at it from outside the aircraft, he was sucked out from the lower pressure outside

And it definitely sucked for him either way!

I'm surprised the door could open with that much of a pressure differential.

I know some airlines do not allow the doors to be opened unless somthing is outside such as a Jetty, Steps or a Highlift.

Last month Indigo 6E lost its engineer after he fell from the Rear right door while clicking pictures for Maintenance.

A320 is a tall model compared to the 737 and having said worked on that, one needs to be a extra careful.

I was too. I'm pretty sure that on all of the A's & B's in production now, it's impossible to open the doors when the cabin is pressurized.

some kid had fallen of a KLM 747 at Karachi in the 80s or so, luckily she wasn't hurt too bad.

I have taken pictures of 6E A320s at night and noticed all the doors open. http://pilotnewsmag.com/?p=10525 I did not realise Dev was taking pictures. From the news story it appears otherwise.

Big maybe. It's over ten years since a U2 captain was severely injured at EDI when he fell out while trying to close a door and as others have said there have been several accidents in more recent years.
