MCI - White CRJ / TWA Maintenance Hanger?

Mon Aug 19, 2013 7:24 pm

I was at MCI today around 1pm and saw a CRJ 200 that was all white with no visible titles and a solid blue engine leaving the international area at Terminal C. Whose plane was this and where was it going?

I also noticed many planes ( F100s, 767s, an E120 and maybe a 737) sitting at the old TWA base. It looked like the F100s had Avianca colors on them but not sure. What's the story with the base these days. The east side of it has a sign that says SMITH on it but that's all I know.

I also saw an E145 still in Continenial Express titles waiting to depart rwy9. Would of thought they would of all been painted by now.

Most of those planes have been there for a couple of years now. Pretty much since AA closed down it seems. (And I'm saying this as an MCI-based frequent flier). They've really barely moved or changed, so I don't think much is being done to them beyond storage. And I agree that those planes look like Avianca. Those have been there among the longest in my memory.

But, I don't have any facts to back my claims beyond just what I've seen as an MCI regular.

It has to be the Bombardier corporate shuttle N591ML

I would guess the Fokker is the one for sale by this company:

Edit: Yep here is the rest of their aircraft for sale: http://www.controller.com/list/list.aspx?PCID=1300930&dlr=1&etid=1

All white CRJ with blue engines... any chance it's a Republic plane in house colors? Does Republic have any CRJ's?

That would be it.

Yup, that looks like them, the F100s, the 767s and even that E120 are the ones I saw.

Thanks much.

I don't think Republic has any CRJs, 200 or otherwise.

According to Airfleets.net they only have Dash-8s, E 170/175s and E 190s.

Let me add that Chautauqua, a Republic subsidiary, only has ERJs. Their "house color" jets have blue nacelles and a blue vertical stab.

Didn't AA sell or lease some of its F100s to Avianca? I think part of the transaction included AA doing maintenace on the aircraft, since AA had so much experience with the F100.

Sort of ironic that the F100s are sitting at MCI, since all Fokker work was done at TUL. I think only 767 work was done at MCI, after AA bought TWA, IIRC.

That would make sense, as there were always (to my memory) 767s parked there when AA was still operating the maintenance base.

Fokkers are owned by some outfit called MidAmerica Aerospace which is based in KC. I believe they lease a small portion of the ex TWA facility, as does Republic.
