Nike has very flamboyant styling, I like the look of both aircraft, definitely not your traditional scheme! Any one know what the interior looks like?

Wow, I didn't know Nike was getting some new planes, they are in traditional Nike flair. The funny thing is, Phil Knight is a pretty private guy, who would be happy just blending in, but he does seem to buck that trend with his transportation.

Would it be safe to assume that Nike keeps its aircraft based at HIO? I know Sequent computers kept their Gulfstream based at HIO, until they were bought out by IBM. Their campus is on the back end of the Nike campus, HIO is much closer than PDX, and much easier access.

Not really. Its more to be transported in style and comfort. A lot of private jets are the same paint, white with a few coloured lines down the fuse, if you can afford to have a flashy paint it says a lot about your corp. Plus when you fly guests you can say, "My plane is the one with the wings, no the bird wings."
Clear skies and strong tail winds.

I disagree. I think the whole purpose is to save time, especially when it comes to corporate flight operations.

It is to save time, I've heard of American executives flying to Europe, jumping off their G-V or Global, 3 hour meeting and fly right back to the States

But it is suppose to be about safety too.....

Nike isn't known for being subtle and doing things incognito. Have you seen some of the sports uniforms they've designed in recent years? The tail, engine nacelles and wing designs look like something off of the Oregon Ducks' football uniforms......

Not always, and I think they have at least one Gulfstream that is incognito.

I know Oakley has a wildly painted Global Express not unlike the Nike jets.
Why do Aerospace Engineering students have to turn things in on time?

Umm, I'm sure all of those gold fixtures on board many private jets just help the plane move faster right?

Let's not kid ourselves. These are luxurious machines for the ultra wealthy, and most are adorned as such. That is not to say they exist only to make a statement, but they clearly do.

The usage of each private jet varies as much as ownership does. Clearly, they are time savers for corporate executives and business owners. Personal transportation is just that - tailored to the need of an individual in a way that no airline can match. Jets are also 5 star transportation for the world's elite, and extensions of their personal style.

I'm not entirely sure anyone can say what the sole purpose of most things might be. Either way, Nike does have two gorgeous airplanes.

I'm not disagreeing with most of that, certainly that usage varies wildly, but to move in style is not an issue to anyone who is not a rapper/celebrity.

But I can tell you, most are not very luxurious, and the main draw is expediency and a low profile.

A CX or SQ F cabin is a lot more luxury and style than 99% of charter planes. That said, I take charter any day because it removes the grueling act of airport security and having to make transfers.

I was thinking exactly the same thing! Ridiculous, isn't it?

For those unaware, it is no coincidence. The owner of Nike went to Oregon and has donated many millions of dollars in free [obnoxious looking] uniforms. There are something like 400 combinations of their uniforms with very similar looking designs to this aircraft...about 398 of them look silly.

I understand allegiance to one's alma mater (hence my own username), but when it comes to designing the paint scheme for my brand new $75M jet, it is unlikely to resemble the designs of my school. Just sayin'.

Have you seen what a typical CEO's office looks like? That's what these jets are designed to be - flying offices and hotels for their passengers to be able to get work done while traveling to work.

As far as traveling incognito, a lot depends on the company. The overwhelming majority of bizjets, at least here in the states, have very boring and plane white paint with pin stripe designs. They don't stand out, and usually have few giveaways to which company the plane belongs to, if it's a corporate flight. That being said, some companies, such as Nike obviously, as well as the WWE (look up N247WE) clearly intend to use their planes as flying billboards. Plenty more pay good $ to block their tail numbers so the planes can't be tracked, obviously for reasons of privacy and/or secrecy/security.

They have a rather nice hanger at HIO that has planes generally parked in it, but no idea if they do maintence there, or just use the hanger as a transfer point for a car/privacy.

Most bizjets do not advertise the owner. There are a few that like to incorporate company colors or logos but it tends to be the white with a couple colors.

Yes, Nike's flight department operates from KHIO.

Of course we all know about the clever N1KE reg but some might not know about the equally clever Falcon 2000 reg N6453. 6-4-5-3 is the number sequence spelling "NIKE" on a phone keypad.

For the record I like the feather motif. Much more interesting than the Matterhorn White of most biz jets.

I have been to the hanger Sequent kept their Gulfstream in at HIO, it was a pretty nice hanger with drive in capability for privacy. I can only imagine Nike has at least that level of a facility. I know Sequent used to do their maintenance at private airport near Burbank. I have no idea where Nike goes, I'm not even sure if HIO has facilities to do larger levels of maintenance.

I think that these aircraft will also be used for moving around those athletes who are currently sponsored by Nike, when they are coming to World Campus here in Beaverton, which is more often than you'd think. Nike does have some real famous guests.

There are a few special business jets with designs under the wing. A couple of my favourites of those:

N1KE is a beautiful aircraft, although I confess I prefer the silver G-V of A&F. More restrained but still notably different to all the white jets and certainly very elegant.

Otherwise known in English as "Maroon" and "Gold", similarly shared by USC, Florida State, and Minnesota, just to name a few...but that's fine if you invent your own colors if that's your thing..

I'm not sure about the underside, but I seem to recall BA painting the top of the wings for their Olymoics scheme last year on an A319 or something. It's certainly unusual, mostly because it looks kinda stupid!

I have two friends that now do corporate security after leaving the millitary and showed them this. Their thoughts this is a terrible idea. If someone has a specific beef against Nike or that CEO or very senior leadership, then that is a big advertisment where they are.

If someone wanted to do something there is plenty of other ways that don't require knowing the paint scheme that would let you know where they are going.
